Mid-life........ I mean old-age crisis?

Getting old ALWAYS beats the alternative. I get frustrated at times because I can't work as long and as hard as I used to be able to but at least I can get out there and still keep kicking. I don't plan to slow down until they are throwing dirt on my head. Come on, fight the good fight and tell death to kiss yo azz.

There you go! Getting older doesn't mean we can keep fighting the good fight, it just means we have to work smarter, not harder. I tell my boys that all the time.

I hate getting old. "Only" 62 and back hurts, knees hurt, balance issues, heart condition.....sigh. When do you hang it up as far as horsing around a big heavy boat? Just resign yourself to a small leaky skiff? How old was Papa when he said "Screw this" and offed himself? I see some old salts on the water in their 70's and 80's God bless 'em...gives me some hope. Let's hear it from the geezers out there!

I will NEVER be a "geezer"!!!! :1925_: :1925_: :1925_:

I turned 70 this year. Still think 25. Back hurts legs hurt but I still go fishing. This is Salmon season out here. Nieghbor a good fishing buddy is 76 and still taked his boat out fishing in Monterey Bas as I do. Everyone helps clean the boat and unload when back. You have to get old but you don't have to grow up. WQeek days are best no crowds at the ramp. Will keep boating and fishing the ocean until I can't stand up. Then I will go with someone younger.

So where are you CC? :504_shrugging: Are you sitting around the house bemoaning the fact that you are 62?

Get off your ass and take the advice that you requested instead of whining("sigh") about poor you :1925_:

I'm 67, I still ski (just got back from CO), I exercise at the gym at least 3 days a week, I fish in New England and Florida, I ride my motorcycle all over this country, Mexico and Canada (I'm riding to Cape Breton Island this September). I keep active and enjoy every day. When I finally do check out I will not have missed much :1121_wink: As I told you before you have to change your attitude. That blowhard Hemingway had many issues and also had an inherited prediliction for suicide. Why you even mentioned that/him is beyond me :504_shrugging: . The only "geezer" on this thread will be you if you don't get off your ass and start enjoying yourself instead of feeling sorry for yourself.

Joe, calm thyself. Might have been what got you sent to permanent band camp.

The key is to keep the mind in the 20-something mindset, yet realize the body doesn't quite keep up. It's cool, some things just take a little longer to heal. Accept that, and your good to go.

Right now, as I type this, Meatloaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" is playing on itunes...imagine that!!! :605_thumbs_up: :605_thumbs_up:

Because I tell it like it is means I am not calm? If what I posted to this guy gets me banned here then I don't want to be here. FYI what got me sent to "permanent band [sic] camp" was not taking sh!t from the cretins that inhabit that 'low place'.

This guy asks for advice, gets it and disappears without acknowledging any of the posts. :504_shrugging:
