  1. My buddy is buying a 30' cabin cruiser type used boat pretty cheap. When I tell him what I'll pay for a used CC, he thinks I'm friggin nuts! He says: "That's crazy, it's just a damn open hull with a steering wheel in the middle! Why so expensive?" I couldn't really answer him
  2. so for a 21-23' you would sea-trial but not bother w/survey?
  3. i woulda bought that sucker if i wasn't so broke. was a beauty =)
  4. Lotta good deals online. Not enough time to keep running around thousands of miles to keep looking at boats. Is it nuts to just buy one from pictures?
  5. I hate getting old. "Only" 62 and back hurts, knees hurt, balance issues, heart condition.....sigh. When do you hang it up as far as horsing around a big heavy boat? Just resign yourself to a small leaky skiff? How old was Papa when he said "Screw this" and offed himself? I see some old salts on the water in their 70's and 80's God bless 'em...gives me some hope. Let's hear it from the geezers out there!
  6. Well, like I said the best damn motor I ever saw was my Dad's circa '63 Evinrude. I think 10 hp? Anyway, that thing went duck hunting, flounder fishing, striper fishing... churning through weeds and mud. Don't think it ever went to the shop!!!!... definition of bullet proof motor. I've owned- '81 9.9 Mariner ( my sone uses it now, still runs liek a top! I think it's actually a Yamaha? not sure) 90 hp Mercury (no bad but was in the shop too much) and a 25hp Honda (great motor!) I'm looking to buy used 21-23' cc. It's a shame but i I see a Johnson or Evinrude hanging on it I pass over it. My one buddy says stay away from them. The purpose of my post was not to bash, but enlighten. I was hoping their reputation was improving. They used to be the most reliable motors made.
  7. im shoping for a boat when I see a white motor I head for the hills. Would you put Evinrude in the same class as the Japanese motors? My Dad only ever used Evinrude and thye were great but that waa the old days
  8. I've already owned "value" CC, gonna go all the way this time. What other brands are considered top-of-the-foodchain for cc 21-23'?
  9. I'm shopping for a used 21'-23'CC? Where should I slip it? I'm not rich so cost is a factor. I will be fishing inshore. I live in SE PA. Thanks!
  10. Man, did I covet that beautiful 21 'Tender of yours. Guess it's gone?
  11. Suffering from "two-footitis" and being too broke to cure it.
  12. Depressed, angry, sad. I hope deep-water drilling gets a lot more heavily regulated. Accidents happen, but this is ridiculas.
