Heres a few tips for a pro look and easy cleanup, the hard part is walking away till it cures.

Tape the hatch lip and the deck lip before starting. Wipe the caulking area good with acetone and apply. Using a small putty knife (wiped down with Vaseline) to smooth out the bead and the tape makes easy cleanup. Just wait till the caulk isn't tacky to remove the tape. Walk away for 2 days and it will look great.

You can also use GOOD marine silicone. Tape off area on door (splash well) around the gasket area. Lightly sand area clean with acetone.

Wipe clean opposite area and coat with Vaseline. Lay a heavy bead of caulking around and close door (splash well) LET SET 48 hours. Open door and remove tape and you should have a custom gasket. :D/

Transom splash guards work well with it.

I've got the procedure down but just looking for the best product. I've used "marine silicon but it does not stick well to plastic hatches. 5200 will be to hard to remove on those types of items.

Any other sugestions?

I don't really care for any of the 3M marine sealants, and find BoatLife white to be the best for both underwater and above water sealing.
