Larry Thanks. One marina quoted me $2400 for a new tilt and trim installed, another "well over $1,000". I will try adding fluid and a sealant.

I have a 1994 Yamaha 70 two stroke, and the electric tilt and trim tilts up fine (so I dont think this is an electric problem), but it will slowly decline, and also leak fluid. Does anyone know this engine? Where can I add hydraulic fluid? What kind of fluid? Any quick fixes to stop the leak? I dont want to throw money into a 15 year old engine if I can help it, although this is a nice simple well designed, but thirsty, two stroke.

This is an Incredible story! In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University . On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully.. He got down on one knee, inspected the elephants foot, and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments. Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away. Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day. Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenage son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Peter and his son Cameron were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man. Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter could not help wondering if this was the same elephant. Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing, and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Peter legs and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly. New To Me 1994 Boston Whaler Montauk, and a newer 130 Sport:

I want to back out these screws. The two that are already backed out have silicon in them to prevent water from coming into the hull. I want to make this pretty and right. The gelcoat is desert tan. Center console or Cuddy? Where are you boating? California? Cape Cod? I'd say either Boston Whaler 22 Outrage Cuddy, or Parkers (not the DV's). I liked my old mod V Parker. Tabs and Putting that bow to the chop made for an easy ride, although not quick. Also, I like boats that have a way to get out of the elements if I am going to go 10 miles or more offshore. Stuff happens.

Al I am long DBC and SKF. Dohhhhhh. Strong stomachs... Yeah I liked my bigger boat fine. But I am finding that I can (and am) eliminate so many costs in our lives with minimal impact to our fun and quality of life. Feels good actually. bstn... I am in the process of fixing some fiberglass damage, re wiring (which I am still researching) and buying stuff on the cheap. The cleaning was easy, and fun! jane, thanks for your words ( and for donating to my daughter's charity way back). And just thank you everybody. This is a neat little boat, and I can't wait till I get her wet.

I would play in the inflateable PFD's and small ditch bag. I also think there is a new handheld VHF with a small gps in it so it can transmit (6w) with DSC)

And bought the Mary Alice VI !!! I am excited. Back to basics for me, and bread in the bank. I sold the 21ft Conquest and bought a 1994 17 Montauk.

I was lucky enough to be in St John USVI this past week. While on a snorkling party boat, We saw a 20 ft diameter ball of green/brown bait fish being hit by birds from up top, and sharks (I think lemon sharks?) underneath. It was amazing. The ball of fish was brownish/greenish, and dense as all hell. I would guess 100,000 fish. They were acting this way on their own as a defense mechanism I guess? The boat captains had never seen it. Any insight as to why they do this? You ever seen this? I took pictures but they didnt really come out too well. I didn't know the proper settings on the camera to use, but I will post later.
