Mystic, CT What to do/see?

Recommended Posts

Pretty much everybody else covered it. The museum, the sea port, the village, and the aquarium are all worth seeing. There is a groupm of shops adjacent to the aquarium that your wife may like - it definitely will not take all day though.

If eaither of you are gamblers, there are two casinos nearby - Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.

Have a great trip.

The Whaler's Inn in downtown Mystic to stay, great restaurants in walking distance. Not sure if it was said but the Daniel Packer Tavern is great for food, even better for drink. Just on the other side of town from the inn.

You can walk to the seaport from there, but its a bit of a stroll. The aquarium is probably more of a drive. Great park around the corner to enjoy a cup coffee and watch the boats go by next to the bridge as well.

The largest Casino in the Western Hemisphere (Foxwoods) is 20 minutes away. I have not been there but their museum is apparantly worthwhile especially for kids. A relatively "cozier" but also huge Mohegan Sun is nearby also.

As described above....Other than the (living) Seaport Museum (check it out on line) there are plenty of great restaurants and shops in the village. I also second the aquarium (right at the exit off 95) esp. for kids.

I am going to a wedding on the Cape and wife wants to stop by Mystic for the night... What to do there or see? We will do the museum but what else is there?

Abbotts is nice, it is in Noank right on the Mystic River. if you want outside, casual seafood. It is BYOB so stop off at a package store and pick up a bottle of wine or beer before you go. Has nice views of boats going in and out of the Mystic River. Hot lobster or crag rolls are yummy. Daniel Packard Inn, eat in the bar, great food that is much cheaper but nearly the same as the restaurant upstairs.

Steer clear of Mystic Pizza, it is a tourist trap. If you want pizza go to Pizzetta right up the street.

Shopping - has been said. Downtown mystic (get off at exit 89 off 95) has cute shops, Old Mystic Village (exit 90), or Stonington Borough is nice to walk around and is north of mystic off of route 1.
