Hotspot, I changed my water pump BEFORE I found your tips. Sure wish it had been the other way around. You've got some good "tricks" on there, better than the aftermarket manuals.

I recently bought a used boat with an F225 (2005) and was amazed at the number of zincs on and throughout the engine. I know some will need replacing every year, some less often. If you have 1300 hours on your F200 I suspect you've been through them all, probably a couple of times. Any advice on that?

Thanks for your work.

I love the red arrows. More please.

Oh, I vote pics vs. vids or better yet, pics AND vids. :2403_worshipper:

My boat has been in sweetwater for most of its life. It has been in the salt for the last two years. Will replace zincs next January and do a tip page for it.

Thanks for the comments folks.

Man I wish you had a two stroke. Those tutorials are awesome, just not all apply. It is interesting to see how much more is under the hood for you 4 stroke guys. That thermostat change looks a lot trickier than doing a 2 stroke.

The F250 is VERY similar. The water pump is a little different as it does not make use of the nylon compression ring, steel compression ring cover, wave washers and flat washer.

Thanks for the great tips post! I just did the water pumps on my twin F250s. I called SIM and got the kits for the F250. You are right, I did not have to mess with compression rings washers, etc. It made for an even easier job. The first motor took a little over an hour because I was reading your post step by step. The second motor took about 25 minutes. If you can change your oil, you can do your own water pump replacement. I saved $300 per motor for a few hours of my own time. Tomorrow I do the oil change, gear lube, and filters. Thanks for the education!
