  1. Thanks! We only have a few more days to get this in. Please take the time (less than 5 minutes) to do this.
  2. We need your help! The Feds are closing down fishing on the East Coast of the US. They have already shut down fishing for Grouper, Red Snapper ans Sea Bass. Their new targets are Dolphin (the fish, not Flipper), Cobia, Wahoo and Amber Jack. That will effectively end any offshore fishing in the South East Atlantic. I am attaching a link to this post. When submitted it goes directly to the commission (SAFMC) that makes these rules. The first section of the comment form has been left blank. The Please fill in who you are and your fishing experience in the Atlantic. Even if you have never fished fill in the bio info and tell them that you have friends and family the do fish and that you occasionally enjoy a fresh fish dinner. The remainder of the comment sections are pre-completed for your easy submission. Feel free to change any of the pre-completed sections if you do not agree with what has been written. Hit "SUBMIT", but I am not done asking for favors. Please post this on any of your other web forums. Also, if you participate in the world of Social Media (Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc) please post this message. WE need this to "go viral". http://safmc.deep-blue-sea.org/ Thanks, Pat
  3. You could catch some NASCAR action during Speed Week.
  4. Congrats on the quick sale of your boat! Your tips are spot on. I have sold 3 boats much the same way. Buyers are looking for a boat as shiney and new looking as the new boats boats that had them dreaming unil they saw the "new boat" price tag. You said that you advertised in boat trader and some other web sites. Which site produced the most serious potential buyers? Which site produced the winning buyer? Again congrats
  5. I would not pay a fee to watch infomercials. That's what this sounds like
  6. That's what I call fun! Great day for you and the kids.
  7. Call proline and ask if your boat will carry the extran weight of a 4 stroke. I repowered a GW and then sold it two years later and lost $$$. Make sure you intend to keep the boat until the new engine is old.
  8. An "old geezer"? That's one for the Department of Redundancy Department.

  10. For what it's worth, I like to have reels dedicated to the task. I have my bottom rods rigged with Saltist reels. I troll with TLDs. My spinner is the only multi-tasker. I use it for casting and bottom fishing for snapper in water less than 100ft. The spinner is a Shimano Saragosa 8000, a true multi-tasker.
  11. 3500 GPH Rule? I've not heard of that before. Please elaborate. Maybe one of these?
  12. I just buy my favorites. Then I turn the lights out and I don't answer the door. YUM;)
  13. 135.79 HD cable, phone, and internet. No movie channels. Brighthouse Central FL. This includes tax. No a bad deal. I dropped my land line phone and that paid for 1/2 the cost.
  14. I have posted this on my Facebook Page and emailed it to some friends asking them to pass this on. Lets see if we can get this issue out in front of that little old lady in Kansas before she writes another check to the Audubon Soc. Here's a copy of my email. Feel free to copy. "Please watch this video and then pass it on to friends and publish it on your page for others to see. Our Florida beaches are still open to people, but our ocean here in Central Florida is being closed to fishermen. We have been fighting extremely well funded enviro groups that have changed their mission from protection of animals to the removal of people. They have moved from conservation to exclusion. We used to give to formerly well intentioned groups like The Audubon Society and the World Wild Life Fund. That was before we discovered that restoration of "natural ecosystems" means the removal of people; before we learned that people are not considered part of the "natural ecosystem". So, please 1. watch and learn: 2. pass it on: 3. stop giving to groups that take what is yours: 4. Vote in November http://vimeo.com/14696293 Thanks, Pat"
  15. Might be cost effective to buy a cover for your boat.
  16. I have the Spot, and it works as advertized. Mainly its for letting family and friends know where you are and that you are ok. It can also let them know where you are and that you need help in a non-life threatening situation. It has a 911 feature, and this prompts an actual phone call to the nearest emergency responder telling them where you were when the signal came in. But the responders do not have the ability to recieve the Spot signal and go directly to your real time location. So for a real life threatening situation, the Spot is no substitute for the epirb, which sends a signal that can be directly honed in on by the coast guard. Funny, I started this thread, and I am just now getting ready to order my first epirb tomorrow. Going on vacation and taking my whole family--no doubt we will all be out together. Just seems a relatively small expense for that much protection. The spot's performance is spotty at best. I have one, but I have not used it for more than a year. Spot uses the Globalstar satellites and Globalstar sucks in my area. The last time I tested the spot I got a record of my trip about 50% of the time. It's a cool toy when it works, but I would not bet my life on it. With PLBs in the market for $250, why take the risk.
