Here is one of the fish we caught the other day in the IntraCoastal Waterway.

The little guy did a great job getting it to the boat!

I caught a deformed striped bass on the Outer banks of NC a couple of years ago that had that same sort of deformity. Great big head and small back-end that had a curvature to it. It was pretty bizarre wasn't sure what in the heck caused it.

I worked part time with our DNR here in SC one winter and the guys told me something like that could be caused from fertilizer run off???

Then I asked them about a simple birth defect,,,,,they said it was hard to tell...............

I also caught a trout last fall that had a defect,,, they said the same thing???????

My guess would be that they were both attacked at a younger age and survived. That is what I understand the spots on the red are for anyway. To fool a predator into attacking it on the wrong end.
