Thanks for posting that, Stephen. I know that GI Bill money came in very handy for me back in the 70's. It allowed my wife to quit work and go to nursing school as I attended school at night. That $350 a month back then was good money! If you have served, you have earned it....Use it!!

Well, you could continue to premix. Everything I have heard and my own personal experience has shown the Yamaha oil injection system to be one of the best. I have seen those parts for sale here on craigslist. Good luck! That 2 stroke 150 continues to be one of their finest motors.

One boat I bought/sold last summer was 19' and had an 85 Yamaha on it. It took forever to get on plane. From a forum suggestion I put on the Nauticus SX 60's and what a difference. They also relieved a porposing problem the boat had at cruise. They so impressed my buddy we put a set on his 19' Hydrasport with a 90 Johnson. We had the same results with his boat. Also, nothing to have to fool with. I can imagine on your bigger boats needing to balance loads and such, but for your boat I think these tabs will be ideal. I can save you $25 on a set...pm me...

Right before getting discharged from the USN, I was in Hawaii in 1969 and they were filming the annual surf tournament at Makaha, NW corner of Oahu and the dude hanging out of their helicopter just feet off the water should have gotten an award! Great Show....loved Jim McKay.

One boat that has popped up so far is a Key West 2300 bluewater that has twin Yamaha 115 4 strokes. Since my previous boat was a KW, we are good with that. Reading posts on those motors, I see very little to indicate any problems. If anyone has that boat or boat/motor combo I sure would like to hear from you!

The Robalo 225 I was researching using the Yamaha performance data showed that hull to be about 800# lighter than a Grady, Hydra Sports, Seaswirl & Wellcraft. But it is about 600 - 700# heavier than both the KW, Sea Hunt & Scout of comparable sizes.

Yeah, Wiley, it seems as if a nice, clean, well presented boats will sell. I have a friend on another forum sell his KeyWest in just a few days as well! All is good....

Just two weeks ago I put my 2002 Key West 2020 DC up for sale. Through word of mouth a friends neighbor came by and made a deal! NADA listed it for around $12k. Because of the condition, I was able to get more. So now we are on the lookout for a newer 23'-24' WA. I can tow up to 6500# and will need a trailerable boat. The leaders so far are Sea Hunt, KW, Scout, Robalo. They have the size, but lighter weight hulls. There are a ton of them for sale within 150 miles of the Tampa area, so will begin the process of seeing how well the owners want to deal. I know Gus has a similar thread on his boat buying process. Mine will not use a broker. Or a surveyor. My sale should make up about half our budget. I hope to arrange a little financing and begin my search soon! Wish me luck...

From what I have discovered over the years, the damage begins as an inside job...the first failure is the grease seal. After water breaks down and deteriorates the grease then the bearings go. It was interesting to read how quickly yours went south. You can usually hear that damage by elevating and spinning the tire/wheel. At least you were prepared to fix what you could. Good job!

Decisions, decisions, descions.... Wiring the new one is as simple as tying a pull cord to the end of the cable and pulling it towards the stern. From there the routing is pretty straightforward. Pull the new cable from stern to console using your pull string. Most boat riggers will leave a pull cord in the cable chase. Just make sure you pull and leave another one in there. Drop the old one and remount the new, using 4200 in your screw holes and around the cable pass-thru. Or you wait for Lowrance..and maybe they give you the runaround and won't settle. Hope things work out..good luck!

We ordered it from Advantage Steel Buildings out of Little Rock, and built it here over a ten week period (My neighgbor was in the business).
