Hello all!
I have spent the last week or so cleaning my boat from top to bottom and have found some products that work exceptionally well! I thought I would give a quick run-down to help save others some time. It all started with an inquiry to have someone detail my boat.... I quickly found that I did not want to spend $3-400+ dollars to have my boat detailed. This wasn't a ridiculous price but I would just rather spend the money on gas and know I did it myself...
1.Waterline stains = a product called hull off/hull and bottom cleaner. The stuff is magic, orange stains wipe off with very little "elbow grease"
2.Dock rash= Acetone. I know this stuff is harsh, used very sparingly and removed all black stains from hull.
3.wax-polish= 3M Marine Restorer & Wax ( green label) for "Heavily Oxidized Fiberglass Finishes".
My hull/deck hadn't been waxed and buffed out in at least 2 years other than usual soap cleaning. WOW boat looks better than when I bought it.
4. Bright work= WOODY WAX WOODY WAX WOODY WAX!!!!!!! WOW I cannot stress how easy this stuff is and how great it works! My T-BAG on my T-top had apparently created some pitting from negligence on my part to remove it occasionally and clean the stainless... You spray it on a cloth, wipe it on and come back and wipe it off, no scrubbing needed and the harder the stain= the longer you leave it on. It is even safe for non-skid decks and corrosion prevention. I do not know what is in the bottle but is is really impressive stuff. I even used it on a polished stainless sink in a bathroom at my house which had previously been avoided due to the pain it is to clean it. Now it is spotless and water stains are a non-event.
Disclaimer: I am in no way telling you to pour any of this stuff on your skin, sniff it, or add it to your favorite beverage and drink it. Some of the products I used were fairly strong and extreme care was taken in their application! Rubber gloves are not a bad idea. Please use you head when using these products.
Hope this helps narrow the search for what works!
P.S. I picked up most of these products from River Supply in Thunderbolt GA.
