  1. Give pirate's cove marina in manteo a call. They sell them and would probably send you one. fishpiratescove.com
  2. Well after the carnage that was reported on tuesday I was jacked to head offshore the following day. We left at 5 am and began our 21kt cruise to the gulfstream. Day started off poorly as I realized that I left my sunglasses! First time I've ever done this and it sucked not having them. Pointed her towards where the fish were caught yesterday, which was deep and north of the point. Dropped lines and picked up a pretty nice gaffer quickly. Then the monotony set in. We didn't have any more action until after lunch. Boats that ran south of us were into the gaffer fishing pretty hard and some boats around us were picking off a tuna or two here and there but nothing like the day before. Some boats had great days, a lot did not. Just after lunch I hear there he is! Left teaser blue marlin! Of course I had just laid down for a quick nap 20 mins earlier so I missed the action but the clicker was off on the teaser and brandon turned around seeing it getting sucked out. Reel it away from him and try to dump the flat to him but no dice....he faded. Minutes after I hear what I've been waiting for all day....POP, POP, POP! Finally got three on. They hit some bigger rods and we made short work of them landing all three. Two smaller ones and one that was 40#. Picked up shortly after that as Dad had to get back and leave to Raleigh that afternoon. I do believe most tunas were caught later on in the afternoon but all in all a good day on the water even though it was on the slow side.
  3. I would say its somewhat of a stretch that they are present year around. Normally they are nonexistent during the winter months but yes they do come in quite close to shore during the summer month. The small peanuts can be a real pain when they ruin your expensive ballyhoo!!
  4. Pretty cool to watch. We were trolling last summer out of OI and came up on a bait ball at least 15 feet across 25 miles out. Just from the bridge I counted 8 sails attacking this ball with who knows how many more underneath. Birds were working it, fish tailing everywhere! They were so focused on all this bait we drew only one bite after a ton of effort. Couldn't draw the fish off...they were just too interested in what they had.
  5. Hey Dave, hows it going? Name: Alex Location: ??? Richmond-Raleigh-Manteo Currently a student at NC State, but I'll be graduating may '09. Majoring in finance and looking for some kind of job right now... I fish out of OI as much as I can on my dad's boat and whoever else's, taken captains course, and done some mating as well. Enjoy hunting anything and everything that's in season if I can't be fishing, and hope it stays that way. Look forward to enjoying the new site!
  6. That's confirmed on another site. I believe it was further south though, almost east of OI that it was caught. Pretty freakn work either way!
  7. What he said. I've never ridden on one so I'm not trying to be that guy but I've heard from several that the ride is lacking compared to others in its class (pursuit, GW, etc) but what will you be using it for?
