  1. 3 years and all the DA can come up with are a tasteless tattoo and a piece of duct tape. If that is all the “proof” they can come up with I am glad she was acquitted. Whole thing reminds me of Duke lacrosse. Allegations, rabble rouser making a lot of noise and a government case with problems. I think we should throw Nancy Grace in jail for being shrill, loud and nasty. At least that can be proven.
  2. What a bunch of crap. I think both parties are spitting in their own well.
  3. Went out to the boat last weekend and looked at the transom, at least as much as the weather would allow. Most of the hatches are frozen shut and I didn’t want to force them. From the outside it looks solid with no cracking in the gelcoat, but I need to get inside and have a closer look. There is a local marina I have dealt with in the past always with good results. I talked to them last weekend and it sounds like they would welcome the work. Appreciate your input. I’ll try to keep you posted as I go.
  4. Free. A fee to participate means I don't participate. The whole internet thing doesn't raise to the level of a hobby to me.
  5. Ok. Thanks. I need to be concerned about weight and balance. I have the owner’s manual for the engine (somewhere) and I’ll dig it out and see what my current engine weighs. Also, I’ll get some pictures posted this week. I have to work this week and I’ll see when I can get home early enough to take pictures.
  6. Hey! If I promise to wash my feet and take a breath mint, will someone reply?
  7. I want to repower my boat before I put it back in the water this spring. Does anyone here have experience with a repower? I am interested in getting some input. My boat is a 1992 Proline 260 Walk with a single bracket. Right now it has a Yamaha 225 2 stroke. The boat’s data plate says it can handle 250 hp. I am thinking about getting a 4 stroke, probably a Yamaha 250. Is there any guidance out there? Anything not obvious that I should be aware of?
  8. Funny how things work out. I just now (30 minutes ago) got back from taking my son to college in Vermont. 13 hour drive with my sister's boyfriend who wants to help me with the boat project. We had a lot of time to talk about requirements and make plans. Sometime during the next couple of days I'll pressure wash the boat and take stock of what I have to work with.
  9. I think you’re doing the right thing to drain your tank. Rather than adding 5 gallons and draining again, I’d add 5 gal to the dry tank and then draw a sample from the line that feeds the engine. If the sample comes up clean with no debris or crud, then I would go with it. Remember to change/clean whatever filters you have. Good luck.
  10. Big, nice, fancy boats driven by complete idiots with no knowledge of the rules of the road, safety or common courtesy. I like to think that guy might be a great dentist or top-notch accountant but is a hazard in a boat. Maybe I’m jealous.
  11. Yes, who is in charge? Great question. The local people aren’t happy with what the federal government is doing to help them. Tried to build a barrier to the approaching oil and the federal government tied up the effort with environmental impact permits and bureaucracy. Tried to put these barges out to skim oil and the Coast Guard kept them at the pier to inspect for life jackets and fire bottles. Anytime the Coast Guard or game warden stopped me for a safety inspection they do their best to minimize interfering with my fishing. I’d think this oil spill is more important than my fishing. Reminds me of what is going on in Arizona with immigration. Locals aren’t happy with what the feds are doing so they resort to self-help. Feds aren’t happy with that so they threaten lawsuit. Seems the federal government is more worried about proving they are in charge than with solving problems.
  12. I have Uniroyal Laredos on my Chevy 2500HD. Some hauling and towing, but I am not pushing the capabilities of the truck or tires. I seem to be getting 75 or 80K miles off a set of tires. I am very happy with them. They were great last winter with all the snow we got. Don’t know if that answers your question or not. Good luck.
  13. Thank you for the welcome and the advice. I am very happy with how things are right now. I had worked for many years so my son could live with me and I could fix some of the problems his mother caused. He accepted the challenge and worked like crazy to square himself away. Right now it is a pretty sweet time: he graduated high school earlier this month and he is getting ready to go to college later this summer. It is time to enjoy his achievements and company because it won’t be long and he will be out of the house. All that said, I’m going to have time on my hands this fall and I’d like to get my boat ready for next spring. It is a 1991 Proline 260 Walk. The boat is in great shape with no hull or deck damage but it is a little long in the tooth. Need new electronics. Don’t need the loran anymore, like to upgrade the caveman GPS to something modern, I’d like a VHF that has DSC. Planning on getting a new engine. I don’t trust a 20 year old 2 stroke. Going to cut out the live well and bait sink and put a large, functional bait sink in their place. Below the bait sink I am going to install a large tackle storage cabinet. I want something I can put umbrella rigs in and stop relying on 5 gallon buckets. Inside the cabin there is an alcohol stove, ice box and fresh water sink and all that is wasted space. I want to cut all that out, reinforce the structure and make it into upright storage for fishing rods. And that 20 year old porta-pot needs to be replaced. It still works but it won’t come clean anymore and it stinks to high heaven. I know that is ambitious, but we’ll see how it goes. I’d like to post progress on this forum as I work through the project.
  14. Got a very courteous and well written email from Wiley saying I should stop being a slug, get off TDC and start posting more on the forum. So I think I shall. But first I’d like to explain why I don’t post much. 1. I am a slug. Jungle sloths have more energy than I do. 2. I tend to limit my comments to something I would consider a contribution. So if I see someone asking a question that I know the answer to, but someone else has already answered, then I won’t post the answer. 3. With the exception of making payments on my boat, I haven’t done anything boating or fishing related for the last four years. Four years ago, after fighting for 9 years, I got custody of my son and he just wasn’t that into fishing. If we took the boat out once a week that was plenty for him. I had been used to going out 6 days a week and I just couldn’t justify the expense of keeping the boat in a slip if I wasn’t going to use it much. Also, I found that when I did have time to take it out I would be working on it instead. The boat just didn’t like to sit there unused. So I parked the boat on its trailer, and parked the trailer in the driveway. My son is off to college this fall so I expect to start back to work on the boat then. From years of non-use there are a lot of repairs needed and there are some modifications I’d like to incorporate. Had been planning on blogging my progress, but I’d just as soon post my progress on this forum. So I guess this is my long-winded way of saying hello.
  15. I'd take it back again. See if they will let you have something that works. Something like a phone instead of a blackberry. When I returned mine, I told the customer service rep that I'd had hobbies that were less time consuming than the Storm and I'd had ex-wives that were less trouble. Sounds like you're having more trouble with you storm than I had.
