  1. I don't find the wipers a problem, however on my 2012 F250 supercab a number of small things drive me crazy. The auto locking hubs are not marked to indicate what position they are in. if the hubs are in auto you might as well have a 2 wheel drive truck as they unlock when you change direction. Another problem is the backup alarm radar goes off constantly once the sensors have snow on them. I know you cannot expect a disable switch because of Nanny mentality, but how about a heater? Traction control disable only works one time or when in low range. When pushing a big load I really don't need the power cut by 75% Low range is too slow in reverse. How about a heater in the back right side door window? Lost view of the JD loader being run by my son with snow accumulation on that window. However I am very comfy with the high tier sound system/ blue tooth, 6 way leather seats, 2 zone hvac, heated mirrors and back window. It runs flawlessly and gets 13.9 mpg (gas) at Massachusetts highway speeds (80). I gave my son the JD 445 tractor w/ the 2 stage snowblower for his new house. Great machine but would drink over 5 gals an hour when blowing. We are going to be tested again this weekend. Yahoooooo!!
  2. Well, had a great night last night with the Pats but it sucks here today, another 14 inches of snow today. Calling the JD dealer to see if they have a bigger loader in stock. The F250 is running great but there is nowhere to push the snow. Worked all weekend Ohhh great it is going to snow again Thursday!! Thinking about about shutting it down leaving on the first fight out on Jet Blue to FL.
  3. Yes, Pates, the Oyster and the Squire are still in business. My daughter worked Pates one summer (geee I'm old). The blizzard of '78 I remember getting up to go to work, going out to my 1974 Bronco and starting it up and looking in the rear view mirror at a 20' plus snow drift. I spent the next two weeks running a Cat loader 16 hrs a day bucketing roads open. The early Broncos were the vehicle of choice on North Beach with the long travel suspension and a 302 it really moved along. Since I last posted another 5", but it is cold 22degrees and the snow is light and puffy.
  4. Still Snowing at 3:50 PM but is has slowed down. The current depth is 30" 25 miles west of Boston. Nantucket Island has lost all power. The good news is all my snow toys are running flawlessly. I just got done plowing the company lot out with the F250 and the John Deere loader. Note to self order heated seats on the next plow truck. I have 48" of snow on the deck of the house Hmmmm time for the tracked Honda snowthrower. I can't understand why the wife was upset with me running it thru the house though.Things will be back to normal by Friday.
  5. This tribute was aired only once by Budweiser and I cannot express my thoughts any better than this.
  6. Bummer, it's snowing again, I really have to rethink where I live. Four months of Winter is killing me. I am so glad I'm leaving next week for FL. Jetblue is my friend.
  7. OK, maybe I was a little optimistic, Snow on Monday but not plowable and the air temp dropped back into the 30's again for the weekend. The whaler is still sitting wrapped up in the backyard waiting for attention. The good news is that the Seacraft deck is completed and rigging will commence next week. I am going to the shop Tuesday to view progress. Ahhh, 10 days to go to my FL vacation, I can't wait. This winter has got to end soon.
  8. The water temperature in Chatham is 40 degrees. Rumor has it that some really skinny stripers are making their way north already, I am pumped for spring. We had winds out of the Southwest this weekend and the pollen is making its way north, I have had issues already but its so much better than snow. This weekend the air temps are in the high 40's.
  9. This winter has been one of the worse in my lifetime up here in eastern Massachusetts, but today the plow off the F250 was put away and I declared victory. The ice has broken up on the local lakes and the snow bank in front of the Boston Whaler disappeared last week. The Seacraft SF23 project is moving along, I replaced the gas tank and downsized from 150 to 90 gallons due to constant fuel issues and have bought a new Garmin 740s to replace the 3210. I will post some pictures as soon as I figure out the procedure. The 17'whaler needs some keel repair (ahh the young adults nailing the ramp) and I will get that done next weekend as it is first in the water. R and R has come to mind and a trip to FL is planed for early April to get used to the idea of nice weather. Next year I want to come south early to see in person the boat shows in person that Wiley and Ludicrous so generously photograph.
  10. Here's the fleet during the season, I have the Whaler so the young adults will leave my Seacraft alone. This picture was taken in early July off the backside of new cut in Chatham. Air temp was 85 wind 4 to 5 MPH, one of my best days ever.
  11. Its pretty sad up in Chatham this weekend both the Seacraft and the 17 Whaler are on land and winterized . It was in the 40's Saturday and Sunday was in the 30's. It has been blowing 20+ every weekend since mid Sept. I guess that is the penalty for the great spring we had. On a positive note the marina I stay at says he is sold out of space for next year! That is not been the case since 2007. I wish everybody a happy Thanksgiving !!
  12. Wow, what an adventure. How long where you there? What where the logistics ie how did you book in country? I wouldn't know where to even begin. Would you do it again if money wasn't a consideration? My eyes are wide open! More pictures please.
  13. I don't know what to tell you, I have a grand total of 5 days experience in South FL. However it was dead as a doornail while I was there, if you have cash you are going to own the place.
  14. Well, I had to leave Chatham MA, Jet Blue is great, $79.00 per person each way from Boston. The organization I work for had a conference in Hollywood FL last week. I stayed at the Westin Diplomat, glad I wasn't paying the $391 a night. Great room on the 24th floor with a balcony, unfortunately it overlooked the convention center next door that Westin also owns. You would think HVAC baffling would have been installed on the rooftop units next door but no, the noise level precluded any thoughts of enjoying the outside seating. The project manager and architect on that job needed to find a new trade. I finally got it though, I now know why you need 39' center consoles with 3 or 4 outboards in South FL, the ocean was flat a board during my stay. My 23 SF Seacraft would have been boring with its 32mph cruising speed headed to Miami.
  15. On Sunday I pulled the boat for the season, I love loading the boat in a 20 plus mph crosswind on the trailer. My wife gave me a hand snapping the winch cable on the bow eye and pulling me in the last 8 feet, She amazes me with her skill set at times. The long range weather forecasts showed another northeaster headed to Chatham for next Thursday/Friday, and to top it off the boatyard ended launch services for the year. I guess its time to find the ski racks for the VW. Wachusetts Mountain has started advertising discounted season passes. Jet Blue has cheap airfares to FLA, what to do?
