How Long Should It Take An F150 To Pee On Muffs

I tried to start up my F150 yesterday on muffs. Ran it for a few seconds, but no stream. Tried agan and nothing.

How long shoud it take?

You need at least 60 PSI on the hose and the double feed muffs. Tilt the motor up 45 degrees from level. It should take 5 to 8 seconds.

Try a tub, stock tank, garbage can.

I used a tub at the end of last season since the water was already off at my marina and it worked well, but the water is on now so I gave the muffs (dual feed) a try.

One more try with the engine tilted and I guess its back to the tub. Will it hurt the engine to run 5 to 8 seconds with the muffs on waiting for the stream?

I just want to burn off the fogging oil before putting in new plugs.

I flush mine off a dual feed muff (that sounds dirty ). Anyways, It does take a considerable amount of pressure for the impeler to feed correctly. I even had the alarm go off once when my kids went inside to take showers leaving me to clean the boat...

Are you sure it is OK to run a Yamaha 150 at 45 degrees? Engine manufacturers have a maximum limit for tilting the engine while running. I am not sure what it would be for a Yamaha F150. Oil pickup can be a problem with most manufacturers at high angles.

Good point. Maybe I'll just change the plugs and run it in the water.

The tilting technique came from Andy (SIM) who got it from Yamaha.

I had the same issue. I ended up squeezing the muffs (so no water leaked) and it started to Pee right away.......and keep pee-ing after I let go of the muffs.
