  1. I think my marina charges about $350 + parts.
  2. Just a little squirt of liquid soap in a quart spray bottle will do. You have to leave it on at least an hour, depending on the temp. Make sure its dry before you remove the paper backing.
  3. That makes sense. You would think someone would make muffs that are adjustable that you could tighten on the lower unit.
  4. My penny jar is doing better than my 401k
  5. I think this goes beyond inexperience and is really more a lack of knowledge, preparedness and respect for the sea. I bought my first boat in 2004. Before I even splashed it, my wife, two kids and I took a coast guard auxillary course (over 8 evenings) and read everything we could to prepare ourselves. I still consider myself inexperienced after 5 years on the water, but I also feel that I am and always have been a knowledgeable and safe boater, with a good understanding of the rules of navigation, safety procedures and basic boating techniques. We all know that this is a dangerous hobby and we have to take safety very seriously.
  6. The flip side of this is someone shouting out to you that you're doing something wrong (or so they think). Last year, the wife and I were anchored in the bay in the evening, fishing and waiting for sunset. At least five passing boats shout over "your nav lights are are out". We were well outside the channel and I 'm thinking wtf and politely respond "I'm anchored, my anchor light is on"
  7. Good point. Maybe I'll just change the plugs and run it in the water.
  8. I used a tub at the end of last season since the water was already off at my marina and it worked well, but the water is on now so I gave the muffs (dual feed) a try. One more try with the engine tilted and I guess its back to the tub. Will it hurt the engine to run 5 to 8 seconds with the muffs on waiting for the stream? I just want to burn off the fogging oil before putting in new plugs.
  9. I tried to start up my F150 yesterday on muffs. Ran it for a few seconds, but no stream. Tried agan and nothing. How long shoud it take? Thanks.
  10. Just signed up. I boat in upper barnegat bay, MI and just outside.
