Probably so....and if you replace the sand with expanding foam so it surrounds the pole, it should add to the rigidity by keeping the pole captured within the PVC.

Sweet, my kids have been bugging me about putting a flag on the boat but there are not a lot of options on a 17" CC. That solves a problem. Good job!

That's a great idea! You could make up a variety to really simplify your flag needs. "Q," Diver/Alpha, cocktail, etc...

I use three small line eyes to hold a fiber glass rod to fly my flags. I have the national colors and a diver flag I carry in case somebody goes swimming.

It hurts my feelings to see a soiled US Flag so I sewed a sleeve to the bottom of mine and slide that over the rolled up flags when I store them. I don't have a pic that shows that clearly but it's just a cloth tube so I doubt anyone will have trouble figurring it out.
