Flushing Yamaha F150?

Recommended Posts

I currently have a 2660 Sailfish with twin F-150's. The boat is stored on davits when not in use. Due to an incident a few weeks back where the rear davit cable broke and the boat fell, I am a little hesitent to go on the boat when the boat is hanging from the davits. So, is there any issues with hooking up the hose and flushing the engines while they are still in the water?

I flush my Yamaha with the boat in the water all the time. Tilt the motor out of the water and hook up the hose to the onboard flush attachment on the side of the motor. Do not run the motor while on this flush attachment.

I have a yamaha 150 and use the flush attachment, but I run the motor while flushing. I have flushed it like this since 2007.

I have been told it is bad juju to run the motor while using Yammyhas flush hose!!! Think about how much pressure you would need to circulate the water through the hose, head, and down into the foot... The impeller could become damaged running dry or without ample water . Again, this is not set in stone and I am not god.A trusted Yamaha mechanic told me not to put extra hours on my motor to flush it...

Hope this helps.
