I have been told that by leaving my boat (on trailer) with the charger hooked up, that i will dry up my battries. I have a guest charger hardwired. Has anyone known this to be true? now I just charge for a couple of hours when I get home from a day out on the water, and a few hours before I trailer to ramp. Thanks

I've got a dual pro charger that I leave pluged in all the time. Once it fully charges my batteries it goes into a trickle charge mode. I do check the batteries and add water every 6 months or so. They usually don't need much if any at all.

A high quality battery charger that goes into "float" mode when the batteries are fully charged will not harm your batteries if left on.

A good charger will actually clean the plates in the battery Its called desulfation.

There is no truth to this rumor about drying out batteries.
