  1. The boat was well equipped but Sea Vee has quite a long list of options and the price I was quoted was for the base boat without the new leaning post and the pneumatic system. I feel it would be a great fishing platform its really not much different from the regular 340. I was told it topped out near 60 mph and it should cruise near 40 mph with twins.
  2. A buddy of mine was quoted around mid two hundreds for the base 340 LE with 350 yamahas at the show. The the earliest build date was sometime in September.
  3. Its not exactly like the 39 LE but it does add forward seating. The forward seats had power adjustable head rests. seavee 34 video seavee Miami pics
  4. The top 4 pics I think are all Spectre boats.
  5. They said they were having issues with the outside motors pulling water into the air intakes.
  6. I like the shotgun. Its perfectly placed to fight off pirates.
  7. I won't eat it but the guy that caught them says he eats it all the time. While he was trying to catch those two cudas he even caught a Managrove snapper on a tube lure.
  8. Last Friday's trip was rough we dodged huge rain storms in the morning and fished in rough conditions all day. We ran out 56 miles to get away from the rain hoping it would smooth out but it didn't fortunately we limited out red snapper. http://s161.photobucket.com/albums/t235/frank1861/?action=view&current=P6030095.flv
  9. My dad and I took the week off this past week and a good friend of ours flew in from Missouri for the week. The weather looked good last Saturday for our first run out to the middle grounds so we went for it. We left the dock around 3 p.m. and hit our first spot about 95 miles out around 6. We fished all night catching grouper, snapper and amberjack. By the end of the trip around noon on Sunday we had filled two 150 qt coolers.
  10. Keep in mind all, the GSD 10 is nothing but an ethernet switch. Further down the road, you can use a 5-port just like you buy at Office Depot. But I would mount it in a dry box... I thought about doing that. What I didn't like was having to worry about keeping it dry and having to use an on/off switch. The GMS 10 is an expensive switch but it is designed for the marine environment.
  11. I fixed this awhile back. It turned out to be a bad GMS 10. The unit was out of warranty but Garmin sold me a refurb unit that came DOA. In the end I needed a new unit asap so I ended up buying a new one from West Marine. Its working just fine now.
  12. You made some good points and explained RAID. That's good stuff
  13. DSP go back and read my post I think are getting are wires crossed. I never said he should setup a stripping RAID as a back up. I said that western digital drive could be setup either way and when it is setup as mirrored if one drive failed the other would drive would be an exact copy. I just didn't designate it RAID 1 or Raid 0 to simplify it.
  14. DSP, whats the issue with with using a mirrored RAID? Many large servers use a hot swappable drive setup in full mirrored or a mix of stripped and mirrored. Why would that be a problem? It never makes sense to use a striped setup for back up but I don't see a reason not to when its mirrored.
  15. Western digital makes a series of external usb drives that are set up in a RAID. Its essentially two hard drives in one case that can be either setup to mirror each other or strip the info between both drives for faster performance. When setup to mirror the info if one drive fails the other has an exact copy of the data. Only downside is that it is big. Personally if you go the route. I would leave it setup on a desk at home and just use a usb thumb drive to move the pics to the inlaws PC. http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=466 In my business computer I use a Traven tape drive. I have about 20 gigs of info and I use 10 tapes which I rotate weekly and replace every 6 months. It backs up at night and it takes about 7 hours. Every morning I swap out the tapes which I keep at home in a media fire safe. I've been this for awhile and it works well. With both it really depends on how much you need to back up.
  16. I've been using Castrol syntec 10w-40 on my dad's 250 suzukies. I've used Royal purple too but its expensive.
  17. On my Dad's boat the spot light is mounted on the top. I installed the radar on a 12" raised base to lift the radar above the spot light. The spot light works fine on the t-top the only problem I have with mounting it there is that it tends to reflect of the bow. Mounting it as far forward possible would be best to eliminate the glare.
  18. I'm cheap my interstate grp 27s work just fine.
  19. I actually ended up installing one in my dad's boat. The install was like any other transom mount transducer just much bigger. His boat isn't speed demon but it reads clear at up to 40 mph which his top speed. We haven't used it in water much deeper then 120 feet, but the detail is noticeably better then the 600w transducer it replaced.
