Pressure washing your boat?

Recommended Posts

I can't imagine it would hurt anything unless you happen to have a crack and the extreme pressure of the water opens it up or causes further damage. The interior of my boat is that"speckled/splattered" look (not sure what the real name is) and I usually just use a garden sprayer to spray a mixture of 3 parts water to 1 part bleach to clean off mildew, etc.. Otherwise I just use soap/water and a brush.

I do it all the time just be careful around upholstery and use a nozzle with a wide spray pattern. Its save a ton of time and makes washing down non skid decks much easier.

I've used mine (2500psi) without any problems. Wide spray tip and at least a foot off the surface. It saves time and is able to clean the non-skid.

I almost always run through a self service car wash on the way home from fishing. The place I use has what I assume is a medium pressure setting with a wide nozzle but even still it's great for stuck on blood, fish parts, etc. on the non-skid. I usually wash the boat latter at home but this high pressure rinse gives you a real kick start and saves another hour or two of salt and gunk getting dried onto the boat. Just be careful, some tips can drill holes in concrete.
