Get the Marine Shield cleaner from West Marine - it's a RayMarine product - but it works great on stripping the scratchy purple glaze from Garmin machines. Used it on my 3210 and it looks like it's brand new. You may have to rub on it a little bit with the included micro-fiber cloth, but it will do the job. About the only thing I've found that works.

Did you use the MARINE SHIELD Restoration Compound?

I had this problem with my Raymarine. Googled some keywords and came up with NavProtector an anti-glare film and the instructions along the way to use old fashioned elbow grease to take the factory coating (what was left) off of the Raymarine screen. So I used Windex and a terry towel with a good tuft and it was not too hard after all. I got the screen cleaned up to accept the new anti-glare film; one that I now like very much.
