If you can get your local store to find them and get them shipped to your store, they you can get the Daiwa SL-X50HV Reel for $44 each There are some available in some stores, but not a whole lot. Would be worth a shot to tell them to look up on the computer and find some for you. I think the other sizes are marked down as well.

how about entering the Calcuttas? I fish a few tournaments and have done some larger ones in the past.... SCSSA is the one I mostly fish, which donates much of the money to Camp Happy Days, I believe. www.scssa.net is the homepage, I believe.

Not used much Missing the red knob on outside of drag star handle....I've used it without it and it works fine...I'm really not sure exactly what it does. It rotated out on a trip offshore and I ordered another one, but the one that came in was too long and I never messed with it again. I think the price for replacement from Masters of the Deep was like $18. The cable has ring terminals on it, but can be modified for a plug. I also put a waterproof blade style fuse receptacle in line and put a big piece of copper wire where the Euro style fuses went. Euro fuses were like $4 each and I have been told that the blade style would do just as well. Not sure if I can find the extra Euro fuses I had, but if I do, you can have them. I think there were about 7 or so left. Spooled with 130# Jerry Brown.....approximately 900 yards maybe? Started with 1200 yards and have since then spooled a Senator with a topshot of that and got snagged on bottom once or twice. Plenty of line for 600-1000 feet of water, that much I know. I will try and get pics next time I go home. Asking $500 Not sure what shipping would be, but it weighs about 13#, I believe. Reason for selling is the deepest I have fished is about 650' and I actually prefer my Avet 50 on a bent butt. Bought it to catch a wreckfish off of Charleston, SC, but they have since outlawed recreational catches.

If you make it to Charleston, I would say Shem Creek for eating. The scenery is usually pretty good and a few restaurants to choose from.

Slow....slow Fished in 140' waiting for a very large storm to get off the ledge and went through 2 packs of ballyhoo in about 1.5 hours....all cudas and one 9lb dolphin. Finally made it to the ledge and a little beyond. Caught a nice sailfish... had one cut off from a wahoo in about 280' with one hour left, decided to put some big lures out.....some 10-12" plungers, jets and troll at about 10 knots........ flat line clip pops...I drop lure back and another sail tried to inhale a 12" lure. That was a first for me. Picked lines up at 3 and travelled through a bunch of sailfish. Buddy fishing said he was on the bow of boat tossing ballyhoo to about 6 sailfish but they didn't want what he was offering. I heard another boat had 6 releases...several other boats with some releases, also. Lots of sailfish out. Hopefully have pics soon.

All the West Marines around here would do that. I work part time at one... also, you folks should check out the Mariner's Protection Plan....pay a little more for "insurance" and get free replacement on top of factory warranty. Anything from sunglasses to electonics.

It is a good layout...I would change a few things, but that is with every boat. He had to add those rear stanchions to the top to keep welds/pipe from cracking. The new hull hasn't had a transom issue, but he was also told they added more glass to that area (not sure if they really did or didn't) I was just mentioning that for you so you can keep an eye out should anything happen. Our 26' BW Outrage cracked a transom that Whaler fixed and it cracked again...sent it to a local guy and no more problems....all mfg. will have a bad boat or two. Good luck with yours. edit....that picture was taken about 85-90 miles out of Charleston....overnighting. It is a good boat...I think he has all the bugs worked out for the most part.

and to be honest, the T-top that was breaking had the fiberglass top....here is a picture of what he had to do. He spent about $3k+ trying to get that thing right...the last weld job is jam up and should hold.

I'm not really looking for tecnicalities...I guess is what I'm trying to say. I'm just saying she didn't really catch it all by herself and, therefore, can not say she caught that fish. It isn't a big deal....I could really care less, I just don't think that is honest....no matter what "rules" say. Just my opinion.

Keep an eye out for cracks in the T-top frame Transom cracks Buddy has a 26' KW that was replaced by KW because of transom issues....and his T-top has cracked several times....no help from KW. I think the smaller boats have had good luck. I like the look of the KWs, but just be on the lookout for that stuff.

likewise, when the boat catches a fish it is "we" I'm not arguing the rules of that particular "derby," just the fact that she didn't really catch it. We have all had help fishing....that isn't my point. My point is if someone else "helped" her by reeling the fish in, she didn't really catch it, did she? I don't know the extent of the "help," but the article stated the fish wouldn't move, so her dad came and assisted her. I assume by helping her reel in the fish. So, the article title should read that "Father and Daughter caught said fish"

I'm lightened up but how can one claim she caught it when she clearly had a good amount of help? Riddle me that and I will be done with this topic.

Don't use 5200

My drag while trolling is tight enough to prevent line creep....if a billfish swipes at it, it will pull out a little allowing you to drop the bait back ASAP. If a fish hits and seems like it is on, I push the lever to strike (8lbs for 30# gear, or thereabouts) then grab the rod out of the holder. Sometimes, it seems like you are fishing with rubber hooks, though. Last trip out we had several that seemed like they were on, but spit the bait out as soon as drag went tight. Might have been billfish, but not sure. Hope that helps.

A few of the sails we have caught this year were on naked ballyhoo... Pink and white Ilander Jr. have gotten us a marlin and 2-3 sails this year so far...not that that really matters, but just tossin' that out for ya. as for rigging with circles, the only way I've seen a lure with ballyhoo rigged with circle hook was with the circle above the lure and hoo. Good for bills, maybe, but not sure about meatfish. Naked ballyhoo with circles inline with bait or above head like you have probably seen are the only way I feel comfortable fishing with them while trolling.

and more than likely, this stuff will sit in the corner of my room and never get used like it is supposed to....that is how I roll.

It is all coming together nicely -Primus Tecnotrail 2 person set came in last night... -Sleeping bags (some decent 20 degree rated stuff) are on the way -another pack is on order....A Millet something or other...(just found out I can order Gregory packs dirt cheap....too little, too late) -Shoes have been ordered.....Columbia something or other waterproof/breathable on the low, low Have some gear, but might need to procure some more stuff that will pack easily. What do most of y'all take to eat when doing a small trek? I've seen the MountainHouse freeze dried stuff and have heard decent stuff about it, but not sure I need to go that "extreme"

Thanks lot's of action with sails and marlin this week couple of boats caught several sails while watching more swim around in the water. Wish I could have gone today, but couldn't swing an overnighter.

Might be a dumb reply, but why not just use wood?
