  1. I am in the process of redoing a fiberglass jon boat. After I do some minor fiberglass repair, I am thinking about doing the deck with Durabak U/V Non-skid in a sand color. Has anyone out there used this in a boat? Any advice, tips, pitfalls? Thanks
  2. I have Time Warner cable/telephone/internet service and am just about fed up with them. From crappy service, incompetent service technicians and being charged more for my services than a neighbor who gets more options than me I am at the point where I am looking elsewhere. How many of you out there have AT&T U-verse? What are your experiences, would you recommend it? Appreciate any "constructive" input. Thanks
  3. I don't buy the good stuff. If we do, it won't make it to Halloween.
  4. You know if the govt. sees this they will take them and give them to others that do not have as many rods as you do. You are apparently too well off.
  5. I live in Cola., where exactly is the plant?
  6. I have had LED Pipelights for 2+ years now and they are still burning brightly.
  7. Has anyone here familiar with or ever used one of those Hot Spots Fishing Chips that you can put into your GPS/Sounders? I have seen them on the internet but was curious as to whether or not they are worth $60. I am looking at the one that covers the SC coast.
  8. That is a task I have been meaning to tackle but on a smaller scale (Yamaha 70). Where did you find these instructions? Thanks
  9. It varies but depth does not seem to be a real factor, it always happens when I speed up, regardless of whether I am in shallow water (3 - 15') or deeper water.
  10. Thanks folks, I will begin the old process of elimination game.
  11. I have had a Garmin 160 Blue and now have a Garmin 441s on my boat. With both devices I experience the same problem. The depth indicator works well as low speeds but, once I get into double digit speeds (around 12 - 15 mph), the most recent depth reading starts blinking and will not change. Once I slow down or stop, the number stops blinking but the unit will not go back to detecting my depth. I am did not replace the transducer when I bought the new Garmin as they are compatible and since I am experiencing the same problem with both units, I am fairly confident that it is the transducer. It was already on the boat when I bought it but, I suspect that maybe the transducer is improperly mounted (too much turbulence, etc..). Any thoughts from those of you more knowledgeable than me? Thank you
  12. Decided to go with the General Grabbers and then could not get them from any dealer in town. I was getting ready to drag the boat on a 1500 mile round trip so I needed new tires quick. Ended up going with Uniroyal Laredo Cross Country. So far I like them, they have nice wet/dry traction, a quiet comfortable ride and they look pretty good. They were a few more dollars than the Generals but I can't complain so far..
  13. I bought a Garmin GPSMAP 441s a couple of months ago and really like it. I paid $429 at BOE Marine.
  14. I am heading out with the family early Saturday morning to go to Key Largo for a week. Got a great looking little house on a canal on the north end of Largo Sound. My 2 boys are so excited, in fact I have never seen them so excited. My oldest (14) wants to catch a shark and a barracuda and my 8 year old wants to catch a tarpon, Ha Ha. The wife wants anything we can eat. I am looking for any tips, hints or advice from those of you familiar with that area. I don't expect your family secrets but, I am trying really hard to make this a memorable trip for the kids and catching a few fish would really do that for them. Also the name of a good bait/tackle shop would be nice. Thanks!

  16. I have the axles with the grease fittings on the ends and a dust cap with a rubber plug that you pull off to grease the bearings. They have worked real well for me.
  17. A 1970, 17' Cobia w/a Johnson 90 in the middle of St. Helena Sound in a horrible, horrible storm. We all literally thought we were dead. If my Dad (a Naval Academy grad) who was a hell of a seaman had not been at the helm I do not believe we would have made it in. As it was, we had to beach it on a small island in the middle of the river and rode out the storm on shore.
  18. Yeah, my wife was gone all last week and I had to cook all week for me and my 14 year old. Man I am glad she is back.
  19. Thanks, you also. Debating on whether or not to brave the crazies on the water this weekend.
  20. Sorry for your loss. My thoughts and payers are with you and your family.
  21. My feeling has always been if you are not doing anything illegal, have all the proper safety equipment and are properly registered, you have nothing to worry about other than the inconvenience of being stopped for a few minutes. Frankly, I welcome their presence as there are too many idiots out there that do not know how to properly operate their craft or think they are better operators after a six pack.
  22. Talk to Jim at BOE Marine, I just bought a GPS/Sounder and a Bluechart G2 Vision Card. Best price and shipped quick.
  23. Man, my dealer doesn't do anything for free, you must have a better dealer than me. If I got free tires I might be less concerned about what I put on but, you obviously have a good thing going. Buying tires shouldn't be so hard. Thanks for the input.
