  1. CBBOATWORKS supplied the jigs (CB-BOATWORKS.com) Gene and Marc. They were designed using a computer program and they supply all the information for building including a material list. They can also supply as much precut material as you would like to buy which is CNC cut. It's pretty amazing that the whole jig was cut from just 8 pieces of MDF 4X8 sheets. I should have taken pics of the jig setup before assembly. In just a small amount of time we had the base and jig set up for 1 boat ready to start building. We did opt for the stringers to be cut but have cut everything else ourselves.I have probably used all of Gene's minutes on his cell phone over the last 3 months getting to this point in the build. They are a great company to work with and very knowledgeable about boatbuilding. Visit their site and browse around, that's how I got interested in this project. Gene has built the 16 Flats boat in his garage which is going to be beautiful.
  2. 2 layers of 1708 on the bottom and 1 layer on sides over 2 layers 1/4" aquatek marine ply. Got the floors put in both boats today.
  3. Got the tanks installed and rigging tubes, ready to install the floor. Not much time to work with the holidays.
  4. The blobs are from airborne dust particles. That's no excuse! Man, this is one nice project! Perhaps I missed it, but what size are these? Also, how on earth do you intend on getting them onto trailers? Boats are 21'. Plan on using Imron or Alexseal for finish paint. Mine will be Fighting Lady Yellow and Jeffs will be Carolina Blue to match his 30' OBX day boat. We should be able to winch them right up on the trailers as we guide the trailer under them. We had 6 guys flip them over. Not sure what they weigh now? Getting a little work done inside while waiting for the gas tanks to come in. Cutting pattern for the front bulkhead. Dry fitting the longitudinal pieces across the stringers. Bulkhead cut to fit. Glassing the stringers. Plywood cut and fit for the floor I started this thread to maybe inspire some guys that were maybe thinking thay would like to build their own boats. These CBBOATWORK jigs have made this a pretty easy project. We are just 2 guys with reasonable wood working skills and maybe haven't done a perfect job in the exact order some "professional" boat builders do but don't think we have created any "catastrophes" yet as some have related on other sites and I'm footing the bill for this project. End result, I will be one heck of a proud captain to pull up to a dock this spring in a boat I built.

  6. Thanks Got the boats flipped Monday. Cut the transom tops and trimmed the gunnels.
  7. You only have 5k into these at this time??? So I should be able to do the hull only on this for about 20k or less? http://www.cb-boatworks.com/home/our-designs/34-bluewater-express Gene at CBBOATWORKS should be able to tell you pretty close on material for the 34. We still have to get some wood for the floor, gunnels, inside, etc. We are buying consoles already built. Transom bracket, hardware, wiring etc. We are hoping for around 10k for the hulls complete minus the engines. We've never built a boat before so not real sure. These jigs make this a pretty easy job. Just some woodworking skills are needed. We've read every boat building thread we could find and talked Genes head off up to this point. Seems every boat build thread we've read you see each person doing something a little different so it's not an exact science in building boats.
  8. Thanks Ludicrous You saved me a lot of work. Not much else to show right now just sanding and fairing. This is a CBBOATWORKS jig. I decided to build and my gracious friend provoded the shop space so we decided to build 2 at one time. As you can see the progress from setting up the base to setting up the jigs. Start the keel, stringers, battens, shearband and chine logs. So far to date we have about 5k a piece with enough epoxy to complete(we hope, it's expensive)
  9. Not a rack but I needed a place to put scissors and pliers while fishing under my leaning post.
  10. Chairman of the Board "Gone Fishin" the best!!!!!!!!!
  11. OK. Here's an 84 my son and I completely redone.
  12. I wouldn't mind doing a 23 myself Especially with 2 nice ones
