  1. What were they thinking....that happened to me on my friends boat. We plugged the hole with a sinker with a rag wrapped around it. It did not leak after that and we got back to dock dry. My guess was these guys didnt know how to react uinder pressure.
  2. I heard from the speed boat guys that your supposed to wax down there....huh who knows....I got paint.
  3. I cleaned the carb and it runs better then it has ran in the last 3 years. the ethanol dirtied the carb real bad. I hate ethanol.
  4. Make sure you like how it handles at cruise and also how it sits while your stopped (pitching ect...) make sure you take it in the rough stuff.
  5. Well I cleaned out my carb for my 3.0L mercruiser and it runs better then ever. I was re-connecting everything to the carb, and when i connected the throttle cable to the lever arm on the carb I over-tightened it the little bolt and the screw snapped. Now I need that new arm (bracket) where the throttle cable attaches to with that nut and washer. I cant find it for the life of me online. Been looking for over 2 hours now. Please help.
  6. I noticed a big price difference between avet and the shimano torsa. Im torn between the 2 but really dont want to spend the extra money unless the difference is justifiable.
  7. Anyone own these reels? Feedback please. Im in the market for one. Thank you
  8. Anyone own these reels? The mxl seems very versatile. Almost like you can fish anything from fluke to small tuna with it.
  9. Well I put a new fuel water sep on and checked the gas and it looked good( just a little debri), i also threw some sea foam. I also made sure al the lines were tight and in good condition. Once again she ran fine up until she got warm, then sputtered and let out a little piff and stalled. I pulled the plugs and they looked fine, and they were also dry. I think its time to try a carb re build. Anyone reccomend somewhere online with a quality quicksilver rebuild kit at a good price?
  10. I will try both ideas tomorrow. I have a gut feeling though it is the air leak due to my fuel water sep. job. It makes perfect sense. I didnt have time to leave dock today but I ran it in the slip after putting in some fresh gas and some fuel additive. I also got a new fuel sep. filter to put on after I burn some more fuel off. I got the boat to stall in the slip after runnint the rpm's to around 3000 then dropping it back quickly into nuetral and it bogged down and stalled almost every time. I think were getting close on this one and I really appreciate the help. I hope im out there live-lining the bass this weekend. I will let you guys know how it works out tomorrow night.
  11. Well I can putt around for a little then when I get back to dock and throw it into reverse it finally stalls. It chugs along at idle but eventually dies. I will also check the kill switch. I tried raising the idle but that didnt do anything. Id also like to mention I did use fuel stabilizer but I left the tank half empty. Has anyone used sea-foam...should I use it. I am going to burn as much fuel as I can then replace it along with a new fuel sep. Yea I agree about the carb its only a 2005 with under 200 hours. I dont think the ethanol ruined it just yet.
  12. If that is true I would like to know why nothing is effected by the vacumn leak at top end.
  13. Good point. I will check the lines and make sure it is all tight. I had to put the seperator on the opposite side of the bildge from the fuel pump. Wasnt much room for me to work with.
  14. OK so my boat is running great after new plugs and dist cap and so forth. Im getting actually 200 more rpm's then last year, and im actually topping out near factory spec. However after I run the boat at cruise or WOT it runs great until I back it down to just the point where it is in gear. At this point it bogs down to 400 rpm's then dies. I fire it right back up and it works fine. It only stalls when you bring it down from a high rpm. I can put around all day but once I run it an bring it back to 800-1000 rpm it wants to die. Last seasons gas is still in the tank, it is a carburated engine. Im thinking bad gas or a carb that is on its way to a rebuild. It is a 2005 with about 150 hours, just put on fuel/water sep this year. Any suggestions?

  16. I have looked into this in the past. They actually pay for their listings in advance and renew every 6 months. If the brokers boat sells they just leave it up until expiration and then take it down before renewal so they dont get charged for it. Since you contacted them on a boat that was sold they now know what they have to find for you. It is not a bad idea on their part. If you paid for 6 months why mark it as sold or remove it if you already paid for the advertising.
  17. Have you considered jupiter or regulator instead?
  18. After cranking my engine for the first time of the season I noticed gas dripping in the carb after I removed the flame arrestor. I actually had a little flame at one point. I am getting a spark. Right when it wants to turn over the carb shoots out gas. Any suggestions?
  19. Last year to fire up my boat I poured a little gas in the carb to get it to fire and to get the fuel lines primed and it worked like a charm. This year I was not as lucky. She sputters a bit and back fires. When I look at the fuel line going into the carb there is no gas in it. When I replaced the fuel/water sep I filled it with fresh gas. No matter how much I crank it nothing happens. When it does fire it is inconsistent and bucks like crazy and just dies, and it will only fire while im cranking it. If I give it throttle while im cranking it, it just backfires and dies. Also after it backfires I notice gas dripping in the carb. At one point I had a small fire in the carb. I had the flame arrestor off. The engine is a 2005. Any suggestions?
  20. Putting the finishing touches on the boat tomorrow. going striper fishing tonight off the mantoloking bridge.
  21. Owners and buyers are both being unrealistic putting the brokers in precarious situtations. It is very tough right now to make both parties happy. I am sticking with selling the cheap stuff right now, but yeah anything over 100k is tough. There is alot of people looking but no one coming through. I have been stood up by a buyer at least 10 times this year. I drive to my clients boat to show it and the buyer never comes, they dont pick up thier phone, and I never hear from them again. This did not happen that much last year.
