  1. Sorry reefhunter but the confusion is all your own fault. Your "what the heck is going on?" was just after your label comments. Your closing statement implied that you still had confidence in the supplier. You completely misdirected us. Now that you have clarified things I hope you get a more applicable response. Good luck!
  2. We got some pretty big kids out there!!
  3. That's a good safety tip even if you never get inspected. You'll know at a glance which ones are the best to use if the flares get mixed up when you get off your boat.
  4. Definitly don't wait any longer though. You normally only have 60 days after the charge hits your card, that they are liable to cover your loss if the vendor doesn't come through. I'm sure it won't come to that though. Once they realise they haven't shipped the line they will most likely re-do the order of offer you a refund. Good luck!
  5. Is there a way to "ZOOM" that site? Compared to a picture from that altitude I get more useful info from a globe.
  6. Ha! I skipped that expensive father-hood step and went straight to "Grumpa!" My 'roomie's' eldest daughter has two, and the younger daughter is getting married this fall so there will be more eventually. lol. Happy Father's Day to all the Dads and Grand-Dads out there!
  7. Does that switch just control your accessories, or is the camera angle hiding the cables to the motor? Inquiring mind wants to know. Thanks!
  8. That's a great idea! You could make up a variety to really simplify your flag needs. "Q," Diver/Alpha, cocktail, etc... I use three small line eyes to hold a fiber glass rod to fly my flags. I have the national colors and a diver flag I carry in case somebody goes swimming. It hurts my feelings to see a soiled US Flag so I sewed a sleeve to the bottom of mine and slide that over the rolled up flags when I store them. I don't have a pic that shows that clearly but it's just a cloth tube so I doubt anyone will have trouble figurring it out. at Wolfeboro NH town docks
  9. How's the old girl doing? I'm sure she'll go fast when you put her on the market! Good luck!
  10. Ya should have been here yesterday, dude. Ta fluck Bruce, Better fluck next time!
  11. Heavy users of companies like UPS or FedEx can get hardware/software packages that allow them to print waybills and labels. The tracking numbers are generated out of the carrier's computer and the driver logs them into his manifest at time of pickup. The shipment is logged every time it changes hands within the system until it is deliverred. Either the driver stole the shipment (the odds are against this) or it never left the supplier. Some places make up the shipping materials when the order is procesed. This "package" would contain the waybill and and invoice. The warehouse uses this to asemble the order and reduces the paperwork done at the warehouse. From time to time, the computer inventory is out of sync with the warehouse and they will either need to re-do the paperwork or hold the shipment until the back-order is cleared. The order may now have a new tracking number that hasn't been updated to your order's file or the order is forgotten on a shelf somewhere. That's all I think I know about that.
  12. Put a jack-stand or block at the back end of the trailer too, to stabilise it. That will reduce movement and avoid pitching the boat in case too much weight (kids etc...) somehow get into the stern during storage. When I first got my boat, my winter cover was planks across the gunnels coverred with tarps. I knew from my neighbor's example that no summer cover could stand up to 2ft of snow. I cleared it off on a regular basis to minimize seepage during the warm snaps but never had a significant amount of water get past this barrier. The stand you are referring to is used more on camping trailers. Try the "Campers' Inn" website. Another possibility is to make or buy a saw-horse and slide it under the tongue. This is common around here. I now use a "garage" tent. believe it or not, the directions are correct when they say to leave the cover a little loose. This reduces strain when the cover goes over the arms. I got some free chain link fence and have used it on the sides to give the wals something to blow against and reduce strain on the fastenning points. It also adds lateral stability. The top is the part that wears the most so I have wood "strapping" at the edges and under the eves and sandwich the cover between them. When the roof gets worn I undo one layer of strapping and replace the worn section or throw another layer over it. You can also increase the height with fence pipes and if you want longer, get a second kit and add in a section. The cover from the second kit makes a good replacement roof. My structure has evolved over the years as I decided I wanted better than "out of the box" space. My first 'tent' used the 1 inch supports and was supposed to be guaranteed for 2ft of snow. I guess that was dry snow... It had a cascade failure after a wet heavy snow. I was able to repair and reinforce it and used it for another couple years but I always worried it would go again. Good luck! (FWIW Starcraft SSC 150 tin, length 15' 5" )
  13. I wonderred how I'd put on so much mileage after my first (short cruise) weekend a few years back. Then I realised it was counting the "jump" from the lake back to my garage.
  14. The last time any goon read my file they fell asleep from boredom and I got away.
  15. I've heard this is just something the inspectors do to look busy but I do it anyway.
  16. I think it's lithium ion batteries that boast "no memory." Somebody on THaT other forum claimed (on a cell phone thread) to be in the business and explained li batteries do develop memory but it takes so long most people have switched phones before it's very noticable. Especially if they keep recharging every day. This is officially one of those "a guy told me, a guy told him..." threads so feel free to take it with a grain of salt. Maybe the newer NiCads do beter but it's nothing I could verify. Personally I'd buy a brick of alkaline batteries for the ditch bag. Most of the name brands have an expiration date so you know when to rotate them. The older batteries will be for general household use for things like flashlights and wireless doorbells. Good luck!
  17. There was occassionaly a rumor on THaT other site that you owned Yellowfin.. You must have missed them somehow. I think you are being creditted with the quality of their new site.
  18. You can still carry the expires flares as 'extras.' Just store them seperatly from the equipment you carry to satisfy the safety regs.
  19. Accepted. Never blamed you for the actions of a scam artist anyway.
  20. That's the pic you put on your credit card. They'll really look at it!
  21. Men and ships rot in port. - Admiral Nelson Re-enlist. You won't have to leave your buddys behind.
  22. I've had a total of 4 trailers (only one brand-new) and when I've replaced the tires I've gone up one grade on the weight classification. It's only a few dollars more and (imo) tires are the least tolerant part of the weight rating on a trailer. ...And that's all I think I know about that! Good luck!
  23. Usually decaff coffee or a diet soft-drink. Alchohol and caffeine interfere with my falling asleep. I don't mind waking up in the middle of the night to go pee but I hate laying awake until it happens...
