  1. I was going to ask if Ludi had any involvement in the operations and if he could post a follow-up when he has time.

Terrible situation about to get worse.

Actually this is condensate from the well, it does have some crude product, if it were a true crude oil spill it would not have such a far reaching sheen spill. The warm weather environment speeds evaporation and dispersing through natural ways

Good news is that roughly 50% of the condensate evaporates in the first 24 hours. the rest becomes more viscous material that resembles the properties of crude oil.

On another note the more viscous the material the easier it is to collect through booming and mechanical skimming.

Remember this is not a refined product it is straight from the tap per se

I will post some pix to show difference from condensate to crude spills

Updates can be seen here if Wiley approves ]http://www.deepwaterhorizonresponse.com/go/doc/2931/532827/

  2. As the title sez, I just got back from completing a 7 day "business trip" in the Islands, we ended up island hoping in my colleagues Beech Barron.

We started out departing FXE (Florida Executive) on Wednesday March 9 and arrived in Freeport a short time later, I had the opportunity to fish around the east end of Freeport but got blown out, this was the story on Nassua and Eluthera also the wind finally died down enough on Day 4 to get out and fish some local areas on Andros, stayed at this great little place called Small Hope Loodge where everything was all inclusive (except fishing and diving) including the top shelf bar, it was serve yourself though...

On Andros we went after some bones on the flats but with all of the fronts moving through all of the fish were deep.

At the end of our 1/2 day charter we hit the "Honey Hole" within an hour we boated 7 small Bones, four Pompano, several Gray snappers, two yellow tail and a nice mutton and a big ole cuda.

The guide kept the cuda and Snapper for dinner.

  3. Still shopping, looking for that perfect 30-35' express boat...

Plenty out there but in poor condition,

looked at two Wellcraft 290's one was represented as showroom new and in fact needed 4K paint and fill job and another 6-10K on rewire and repair

The other 290 the HIN, Documentation No. and Reg. # did not match.....

Headed to FTL Show on Thursday anybody else ?

  4. Been looking at a few older Battle Wagons over the past several months and a 1979 Bertram 46 has work its way up on the short list...

The Bert is cosmetically pleasing and mechanically sound, majors were done on the 871 Naturals 1000 hours ago, engines had 3500 hours when majored

It seems rebuilding these 71 series are very cost effective versus repower

Let me know your personal experiences and non planned failure.

  5. Jay...I can not believe your selling the trailer queen.....

Guys this is one clean boat, sold and serviced by Bluewater Yacht and raises the crap out of fish, I have personally fished it from Hatteras to CLT (Chesapeake Light Tower) supper efficient and clean...

If I did not need a Express Boat for an infant son I would be on this like the clap on a 10 kroner hoooooooker..........

  6. Where is it located?

THe boat is currently located at Ocean Reef, Key Largo in a wet slip.

The boat was used mainly Chesepeake Bay and Outer Banks prior to moving south...... I have used it only two seaons or loing season in South Florida

I have no problem towing it anywhere on the eastern seaboard for a buyer as long as it is south of Obama's House ( Washinton DC)

  8. I was looking for some real world opinions and comments on the 1999 - 2003 Wellcraft 290

I have found two identical models one with new genny and ficht rams and one w/o genny and 1000 hour plus Mercs

The goal is for a comfortable family fisher for use in Key Biscayne and Keys areas

The motors are a non issue as whichever one I purchase it will be repowered with 300 Suzukis

I am leaning towards the one with the genny as it is roughly the same price

My conerns are construction overall wiring and other mechanicals and comfort of ride

    The boat will get surveyed

Are they any other boat models in the 30' range I should be looking at? Outboards are a must have.

    Thanks in advance

And as a side note my 2005 Maycraft will be in the for sale forum later this weekend
