  1. I'm In. The savings on the price per gallon is negated by the lower mpg on the E-10. I can tell a big difference in my truck. The problem as I see it is that is blended at the station not the distribution points. I would think it would be an advantage to a company like Trade or another big chain to advertise that they don't put ethanol in their gas. I have started adding Stabil for Ethanol every time I fill up on the boat.
  2. To heck with him I want mine signed by the model. Gotta love them redheads.
  3. Can we use your avatar for a T-shirt design for MAD I think we could sell some!!!!!
  4. I went by the store in Atlantic Beach today and I bought 2 Daiwa SLH50's for 55.00 each. All the reels they have left are now 40% off. They had two high speed 6/0's left for $77.00 each and 3 Penn 535's for about 75.00. They had some really good deals on large spinning reels and they had a bunch of their custom rods left. The prices are getting right stuff won't last much longer. All of the wooden display rod racks appeared to have been sold. The guy that helped me with the reels said that the Manager was going to open a tackle shop further down the road where the old IGA store used to be.
  5. A friend of mine caught a 150lb tiger shark on a 35 year old 4/0 yesterday. I bought the reel on Ebay for 40.00 a couple of years ago. When he saw what I gave him to fish with he laughed at me. After he got that tiger to the boat he wanted to buy the reel from me. The older Senators are bulletproof.
  6. I would look on Ebay for used Penn 3/0's and 4/0's you should easily be able to find them in that price range and have great reels that will last you decades. The 4/0's might be a little heavy for what you are looking for 3/0's in my opinion would be perfect.
  7. I think that happens a lot when a non-native species comes in to an ecosystem. Kudzu is not native here and is rampant but I don't know if it is as dominant in its natural habitat or those snakehead fish that have been reeking havoc in Maryland. my guess is that in their natural habitat a predator has evolved that might eat their young or eggs. I did some googleating on habitat decimation by non-native fish species. This is from an article from the National Invasive Species Information Center. http://alic.arid.arizona.edu/invasive/sub5/index.shtml "Habitats that are invaded by non-indigenous vertebrates generally have low biodiversity, meaning that the variety of life currently present in the area is low. Observations of past animal invasions throughout the world have revealed that small, isolated habitats, for example Hawaii, seem to be more susceptible to animal invasion than larger landmasses, for example the continental U.S." That would suggest to me that isolated habitats like reefs and wrecks would be susceptible. This is from about.com. http://animals.about.com/b/2008/07/25/reef...h-fall-prey.htm "Scientists from Oregon State University report that coral reef communities throughout the Caribbean are being devastated by the invasive lionfish. The predatory fish feeds on unsuspecting native fish with alarming efficiency. The study revealed that in a single 30-minute period, one adult lionfish consumed 20 smaller fish. Additionally, within a five-week period, the lionfish reduced the population of juvenile fish within the study plots by 79 percent. The message is clear: shortly after lionfish invade a reef, nearly 80 percent of the other reef fish species disappear. To compound the problem, many of the native fish that fall prey to lionfish are herbivorous and feed on seaweed that otherwise crowds the reef. With many of the herbivorous fish gone, seaweed growth explodes, derailing the delicate balance of the reef." Another part of the article said that in its native habitat prey fish develop evasive tactics but the fish in the "new" habitat aren't familiar with the danger the lionfish poses. "The lionfish is native to the tropical regions of the Pacific and Indian Oceans. In its home range, its numbers remain in check thanks to natural predators such as groupers. Also, prey fish in its native habitat are well adapted to eluding the lionfish. But in the Atlantic, the lionfish has few predators. Prey species are unfamiliar with the danger lionfish pose to them."
  8. Guys please join us in Thanking these folks. The smiles on their faces and the pig pickin' at the end of the day make it all worthwhile.
  9. When they say dolphin in the regs they mean Mahi. They grow very fast will eat anything that doesn't eat them and are fairly easy to catch if they are around. They are a blast on light tackle. I caught one trolling a bird rig for spanish mackeral between Beaufort inlet and AR315. The come in really close to shore in the summertime. You don't have to have sophisticated tackle for them. I have caught them on everything from live bait to ballyhoo and Islander combinations that are as big as they are. Where do you fish out of?
  10. Happy Birthday Rich. I'm right behind you. Given the option take the SuperSnake I went to the Shelby plant in Vegas in January.
  11. Glad ya'll had fun. It was a great tournament for the Heels. Every step of the way some team was supposed to beat them for some reason or another and they came up big time and time again. I am proud of this team. They lived up to the hype. I think the rest of the ACC should look out now that Roy has learned how to win with his own players.
  12. You also might want to try Fisherman's Inn on the causeway. Easy in and easy out. There is a ramp right across the canal from his slips. Billy is good people right beside Freeman's Tackle. Princess and kids can walk down the circle to the town beach with lifeguards. Not much to look at but very clean and super nice folks. Be careful at the Palm Suites. The ramp there used to be really bad. I stayed there a couple of times when it was a Days Inn property it wasn't too bad. I have never stayed at the Caribe but I have heard great things about it.
  13. I was in the store in Atlantic Beach last weekend and they said they were still taking the cards.
