  1. Check with Neuse Sport Shop Kinston, NC they bought up a bunch of OBO inventory.
  2. You should know better than to take my advice on electronics. Are you sure that's the model number I went to Garmin's website but I couldn't find out anything about it and I owe you $5.00
  3. I heard a story today about a boat that capsized in LRI last Friday with about 10 folks on board. I don't know many details and everybody was rescued but they were in the water about 2 hrs. They were rescued by a fishing boat coming in the inlet. This would have been around 5:30 or 6:00 pm. Did anyone else hear anything about this was there a big storm in the area?
  4. I live in Johnston County just outside of Wake County and I work in Cary. You can probably get property for a lot less in this area than the Apex/Cary/Morrisville corridor. Our schools are very good especially in the West Johnston area. We will have a brand new high school up and running by next year. We have access to interstate highways to Wilmington and Raleigh and easy access to Morehead City. We have a pretty good quality of life here in the burbs. Good Luck. My sister and her husband live in Falls Church I can understand wanting to have a break from all of that.
  5. I'll be on vacation in Beaufort next week. I am keeping my boat in the water at Town Creek Marina. My wife has decreed that I will not be fishing by myself anymore so I'm looking for fishing partners. Inshore or offshore trolling or bottom bouncing or jigging weather dependent I'm available. Let me know if you are interested. I don't have very reliable computer access down there so pm me before Saturday and I'll give you my cell number.
  6. I have fished with him before. His business card is in my wallet. A friend of mine at Fisherman's Inn hooked me up with him so he wouldn't have to fish by himeself. I thought his boat was a little smaller unless he has gotten a new one. It was an older 25' Grady cuddy with twins. I sure hope he is alright but it doesn't sound good. Prayers for his family.
  7. Glad you found some fish Rich. Sounds like the flying fish lures were a hit.
  8. The layot looks pretty much like my 232. It is 8" longer and about 300 lbs heavier. The recessed trim tabs are a great idea. It can be hard to get into my boat from the swim ladder because of the tabs. The fuel numbers are about the same as mine with a 225. I wold think that depending on where they put the weight it should ride very well. My 232 rides pretty well in most conditions. I also like the larger console. I have a 12" MFD on mine and it is about all that could fit on it. Some things I don't like about it are the wiring. I think it could have been done a lot better and mine has a lot of gelcoat cracks. I don't particularly care for the t-top that my dealer installed. I think the factory one is nicer. Make sure they don't put the anchor light in the middle of the T-top I couldn't reach mine and I eventually had it moved. The fish boxes in the front also need a little more insulation. The anchor box is kind of small I carry 300' of rope and it is pretty full I had to modify my anchor to fit in the box. Overall I think it is a well made boat and a lot of these things might have been addressed in the 240. If you want a ride in mine sometimes let me know.
  9. I didn't read that article until after I posted the question. I know Bob Lucas that owns the other Instigator. Glad it ended well. according to a response on the other forum both engines will have to be rebuilt.
  10. Freeman's is a great shop. I buy almost all my stuff there. They are very knowlegeable and will be happy to answer your questions. They would probably show you how to rig your own hoos if they have time. There are 2 live bait boats that hang out most mornings in the turning basin. Captain Stacy and EJW. You should be able to get either of them on 16 or 68. When are you going to be down? I'm sure that one of the members here would be willing to help you with rigging baits. I have started using the West Beaufort access ramps they have just been re-built and are very nice and have quite a bit of parking. You need to get bait before you get there because there isn't much of anyplace in Beaufort to buy bait. Good Luck and Have Fun!!
  11. I have on several occasions heard fishermen talking about a spot near the 14 buoy that holds a lot of trigger fish. Does anyone know where this is in relation to the buoy or have any numbers?
  12. I will be very interested to see if we ever get a report on what really happened. I came through the Inlet around 4:00 and though the seas weren't bad they were as Rich described them best "Confused" coming from a couple of different directions and the Charter fleet was coming in at about that time and they had it churned up pretty good. I don't know if he was anchored or not but if he didn't have enough rode out and got in some of the wake I saw he could have gone over. I got airborne twice crossing wakes to get to Beaufort. That inlet is a great one but with an outgoing tide on a south wind with all that wake it could be a tough place if you are not used to it. Again I don't know what happened but I really feel for the owner of that boat.
  13. That would have been the longest hundred yards in the world. Wasn't it right off rough point?
  14. I heard on the radio Friday that there was a fire onboard Instigator. There were 2 Instigators fishing the Big Rock does anyone know which one it was and does anyone have an update. I heard the Coast Guard talking to them on the VHF but I didn't get many details.
  15. I wonder what made them think that fish would make weight? It was awfully skinny. At least it was legal by Fed. standards. A couple of years ago a boat brought one in that was under the legal size limit by fisheries standards. That was a problem.
  16. The white marlin are chewing this A.M. Hopefully the blues will come for brunch.
  17. Where in the heck did that 90lb yellowfin come from? I don't even think anybody caught one last year.
  18. I caught a 40lber last year in late July at Big 10. I have seen quite a few there in the summer.
  19. That should be about right for Mahi, kings, sailfish etc. There are some great wrecks offshore and some nice reefs and ledges. Maps Unique makes a good offshore map and I have one that I really like that is laminated that has a lot of inshore stuff on it. I also have a spreadsheet with a lot of well known numbers on it if you are interested, PM me and I can email it to you. Good Luck!!
  20. Its going to rock. I can't wait. Hopefully I can get some cobia fishing in this weekend. I signed you up to win the NCSU basketball tickets that AspenKlutz got.
  21. Its going to be difficult to get rid of because of the farm lobby.
  22. I took two reels that I bought at Boaters World clearance to Dick's today. They put about 450 yds of 25lb test on each one of them for 4.99 each. They do it by line size not yardage. Its a pretty good deal.
  23. Had a friend call me while we were working the boatshow said they caught a 25lb, 35lb and 63lb and lost about 4-5 more. They are chewing. Most have been caught just inside the inlet and in the turning basin according to Joe Shute.
  24. Nice job. Does that make you the "Party Starter"? Keep up the good work Captain and keep the pictures coming.
  25. I'll be there. Military Appreciation Day has a booth there. We need to find about 25 or 30 boats. We have 79 on the waiting list. If the weather is good I might fish on Saturday. I am working the booth on Sunday.
