73 Quachita, 14' flat bottom jon with a 12 hp Bucaneer. Still got the boat, my son fishes out of it in the farm pond. He has to come ashore after about two hours and drain the water out of it, it leaks so bad. I did upgrade to a 15 hp Johnson in the mid eighties though.

I like the the red heads and chartreuse in the gulf panhandle. I use monel soft wire crimped, with a swivel on both ends. The 20 and 25 footers are what i pull. I wouldnt pull them without wire, no telling what kind of toothy creature will hit'em. You can go heavy floro, but to me, it seems they dont track as true. IMO going with the Monel, crimped around a swivel and threaded onto the eye, the action is unaffected. Crimping the skinny stuff is a pain, but I dont like loosing plugs either.

For cleaning blood and guts,, soft scrub gel, the works toilet bowl gel. Just squirt it directly on the deck, take a stiff brush and brusha, brusha, brusha. After brushing, rinse well. Woody Wax is hard to beat for a top side wax, simple to use. After rinsing, squirt a little down , then use a very soft brush to spread it around, brush the helm, inside gunnels. leaning post, hard top, splashwell, all the hard to get to spots, then rinse well..... If you dont have blood and guts on deck then just wash with a car wash liquid with wax in it, KIT, Meguires, Turtle Wax, etc,,,,,,,,,
