  1. I agree, just happy they took the card and not the whole unit, or tore out the fish finder stuff. Professor
  2. thanks Just ordered one for myself Now I can give the other one to my wife.
  3. Several weeks ago I requested some help in solving my Lowrance GPS dropping out. From your posts I got to Lowrance and ran through the diagnostics and everything checked out but something just did not make sense. I only got one message that the GPS is not responding with the unit. Well I had not updated my SD chip in several years, now know you should do it several times a year. Checked for the chip but could not get it out, then I looked some more and realized I had no chip installed. It has been stolen, parked right next to my house with sensor lights on, two bull dogs that bark at crack of any noise. So was it stolen at home or on the way home from a fishing trip. I never leave the boat unattended and park it in the parking lot where I can see it if I get a sandwich. Obviously some one had to watch me and for a total of probably 30 seconds - it was gone. I protect and watch everything else but i just forgot about that chip and that i paid $200 for it. Will I take the chip out, no, going to take the whole unit out every time. So someone probably got a deal on ebay or craigs list. Just a reminder for everyone, guard your chip - you can never let your guard down. Sure have not been on the boat - it keeps snowing in Richmond, but at least i am not in Washington. Until the snow stops -- Professor
  4. Thanks - It was the antenna last time and it looks like it is the same thing this time. Lowrance has sure been hard to contact - their web site stinks, it has two areas to submit to send equipment back, one will not work and the other will not accept the id # of the equipment. Thanks for the help- with the foot of snow in Richmond, will not be going fishing soon. professor
  5. Wanted to head out today to fish the Eliz. River or Rudee Inlet, but wife had other ideas. so I am ding honey do's. Weather will shoot down fishing until next week. Also fish the obx. Professor out of Richmond,Va.
  6. Lowrance 3332L fish finder and GPS - second time in 4 years that the GPS has dropped out. It is an exterior antenna that sits ontop of the t-top, Wondering if anyone has had problems or is Lowrance having problems with this model GPS?
  7. Heave a ring buoy with a line - should have one always ready, to the guy cut with the prop. Once aboard you can instruct him how to manage the bleeding. Attend to the the unconscious nonbreathing individual with a breath every 5 to 7 seconds, can instruct the other injuried individuals on how to take care of their wounds. If non breathing person starts breathing take care of bleeding by prop cut and then the small lacerations and make it to port. Hopefully you called coast guard once the non breather started breathing or the one with the small lacerations could make the call. Most importantly have the the rescue equipment ready and available, wear your pfd's and be certified or qualified in CPR, first aid. Your the capt. make sure the newbies to the boat know where everything is located and how everything operates, radio, man over board buttons, steering, turning motor on and off, how to throttle up and down - the basics ----- would only take 5 minutes. Do it everytime with newbies on the boat.
  8. We all knew that Ritz Camera and Boaters World were in trouble but did not know if one would survive. Well, Boaters World did not - Ritz is probably gone as well, do not know yet. The store in Chesterfield, Va. off Midlothian Turnpike opened the doors yesterday with their sales, 10 to 20% off - did not raise their prices on the goods. Took my boaters world catalog with me to check. Store is to be sold out within 30 days. I have my list, but they will have to go to at least 30% off before I buy and hopefully 50%. The warehouses are being emptied and the stores are packed with everything from those warehouses - one more truck due in at Chesterfield. So make your list and go shopping - it is a part of Obamas stimulus plan. At least in Chesterfield we have a small boating store, Dukes Dock, lady has been really helpful and almost a catalog store. As far as fishing, you cannot beat Greentop even with Gander Mtn. and Bass Pro Shop just up the road. Now if the water would warm up so the fish would start biting. Professor out.
