  1. You thinking about getting one for a run off Somila?
  2. My son and I love the 24' Topaz and were tempted to restore one. We chose to get a newer rig. The Topaz has some of the best lines in the industry and can handle most seas. You must be very proud.
  3. Thanks for the apology. We had the porn spamers infiltrate our company computer systems for over a year. You took care of it in 1 day!
  4. I'll 3ed BOE Marine. He shipped immediatly and was a lot lower than anyone else.
  5. Most of the reefs in New Jersey are getting a lot of additional structure. It's been a great program and one of the few things the state gets right. The state coordinates the "reef " program but the money for the structure (rubble, old decommisioned tugs and trawlers, subway cars, etc ) usualy comes from other sourses.
  6. Cabrera won but all you hear on the news is Tiger this and Tiger that. I think it's amusing.
  7. It takes me a day and a half to do the boat by hand. With a buffer half day.
  8. I don't think we would tell the world exactly "how we did it". Then they know what not to do next time. I'll speculate there were SEALS under the raft most of the time. At night they could be inside the raft very quickly. Say 2 pirates were sleeping and 1 was on guard. You take out the guard and easily take the other 2 before they wake up. I really like the no prisoners aspect. Great job however they did it.
  9. BrokenWrench It's all about money. With different regulations they get to charge us more fees, which are just another form of tax. We need a NJ and NY lisence plus a federal lisence to chase tuna and sharks; then the tax on fuel and bait and tackle which now goes into the "General Fund" and not dedicated to fishing related activities. Yea, we are getting killed. I even need another lisence when we go down to Hatteras.
  10. I'm having trouble with the sniper story. Glad it all came out good for the Captain and family, but given the rolling motion of the US ship and rolling around of the lifeboat; even with some kind of gyro stabalization for the "sniper rifles" 3 shots, 3 kills, all in the head! The outcome was great but I'm wondering if there wasn't some thing else that; "we will never know'. Whatever it was it was terrific.
  11. I have a 18' Wellcraft CC with a wet transom. An estimate to replace it properly was $3500 to $4000. The boat isn't worth it so it sits in the yard. We bought a 25' Kencraft CC and it's a totaly different boat with no issues. I wouldn't attempt to repair a wet transom myself. It is too important a job for amatuers.
  12. What WMalloy382 said. But I have a 2 1/2 times rule. Whatever your estimate multiply it by 250% and you will be closer to what you will spend by the end of the project. Figure a transom at $4000 plus, then engine, rewiring, batteries, horn, bilge pumps, switches, electronics, etc. We looked at one of these projects but found some amazing deals around. There are some super boats on sale you can buy for 1/3 off and the seller is still happy.
  13. Man, you are good to go. It should be a real tuna hunter.
  14. I fish up north but on the web sites charter boats are claiming 30 to 40 stripers per trip on the bay and one of the bait shops claim the "bite is on fire". We are waiting for the bite to move north but think it will take another 2 weeks.
  15. You're lucky, we don't see yellowfins in NJ untill june or july.
  16. We will have one before the season starts; ie June at the latest.
  17. Call the dealer or manufacturer and see what they recommend. They should be able to guide you thru gelcoat depth issues and which grit to use. Error on the side of caution.
  18. The setup looks good. Is Sirius/XM weather in your budget? The receiver is around $700 list plus installation. Also you didn't mention the boat make and size and where you intend to fish; inshore, canyons?
  19. My son works for "On The Water" magizine and he must go to the show. The OTW guys think this is a great show with super people. Have fun guys!
  20. Don't worry. Barney Frank will restrict all the NFL salaries to $500,000 a year soon. The rest of us won't fare so well.
  21. Unfortunatly many of these issues have more to do with revenue ie; TAXES! than a real security situation.
  22. This is the best and just at the beginning of the season!
  23. We are in Sea Bright and launched last friday. It's nice to know the school stripers are around. Now if the weather cooperates this weekend? All the head boats were in the Sherwsbury River friday chasing winter flounder but we didn't see any rods moving. The water needs to warm up some more.
  24. As much as I would like to jump on the cop; if the guy in the Escalade had been lying, the whole situation could have gone the other way. Give the cop the benifet of the doubt.
