Good post there Mango. I got a spot back in January and tried it out around Sanibel/Captiva in February. Works great.

I tried it out at my house when I got it, and my buddy who got the email could even tell that the unit was sitting in my back yard, as opposed to the front yard.

For the price its neat as hell.

it is neat for what it is.

people tend to get the Spot confused with essential safety equipment such as an EPIRB. the Spot is really just a communication device that can transmit personalized info to folks back at home. and yeah, it can summon the calvary but that's just a bonus feature.

an EPIRB is a tool that you hope you never have to use........a Spot is a tool that you can use every time you go out if you want.
