Fuel Additive Information

Recommended Posts

I am not a believer in any of these additives or their claims which can never be verified independently. I came across this website that explains how the additives can be harmful to your engines. Whether you use them or not, its a good read. You will see that most of these products actually contain alcohol ie. ethanol or a "proprietary" ingredient listed as a solvent. Alcohol is the problem in the first place and solvents can be harmful when they wash lubricating oil film from the bearing surfaces and cylinder walls.

Evinrude Fuel Conditioner is 95% alcohol!!!!! Stop wasting your hard earned money and save it for the day when you need to have the tank pumped. That is the only fix that works.

Florida Sportsman April issue has a good quick article about fuel additive and there benefits.......

Not all fuel additive contains alcohol...... Star Tron from StarBrite contains no alcohol..... I started using Star Tron after the 1st tank of E-Crap about a year ago..... I've had no ethanol promblems and I believe that the Star Tron is part of the reason also I keep a close eye on the fuel filter.....

Worked as a Chemical Engineer for 30 years - Also worked for our State emissions program and among other things, had to answer inquiries and complaints about ethanol. In fact, we developed fact sheets on the subject with most of this information. This is a very accurate and well presented article as far as I can see. Thanks
