Tampa Bay Offshore Fishing

I "###### footed" around and waited until the last possible minute to try to get a crew to go after my Venice trip was cancelled due to weather. Just as well I guess since I was down for the count Saturday morning with allergies.

Took the wife and my two boys(ages 3 and 21 months) in the boat to Fort Desoto today to let them play on the beach. Water inside of the pass was beautiful.

We are running out of Bayport about 6:30 Wednesday AM. My wife and a buddy will try out some of the spots I have loaded on my Lowrance from bestgpsspots. I think there were about 160 spots that cover and area from Steinhatchee to Tarpon. Lots of inshore spots, but we are working on getting some grouper, and would like to take a few dozen pins, some squid and cut bait offshore.

If anyone else wants to run out we can take morethan one boat for a little companionship. I do have one really good spot we found in 58', but is about 32 miles offshore! Yeah, Bayport has a slow slope....

the trip out was a solid 2-3 whitecapping sea (building as predicted).....we were desperate but knew Larry's boat could handle it. i knew it would be a could test and confidence builder for Larry as a first truly OFF offshore trip since his ordeal.

Yeah....I don't know what had the crew more nervous, the 3-4's or me keeling over on the spot......Good to have good crew on board that could get me back in an emergency.

Anyways... a fun trip. The goal was to find some blackfin. Didn't see any but those donkeys made for action.

I finally had a chance to use my jigging outfit after last week's miserable luck, having lost 2 lures to problem with the eye guide.

First drop, AJ. Fun....for about 30 seconds. I hate catching those things.

Then ARS,.... then more ARS. A few more drops...guess what it was......... ARS....

OH well. As they say, any day on the water is a good day, or for some folks, any day above ground is a good day... :D
