  1. Probably Grouper or more Sharks. Managed to get a few decent Gags up that were almost keepers. We were using pretty light tackle
  2. Left out of Fort Desoto ramp around 7:15ish for the first fishing trip on my new ride. Bait was very tough to catch only resulting in 4 Mondo sized Blue Runners in an hour or so. Decided we had enough(or I did anyway timewise) so we pushed on to the Mexican Pride. Saw one giant Cuda eat one of our giant Hardtails and no other action on our boat or any others after a few drifts. Headed on to a Spring a little past the Pride and marked nothing and no bites in 2 drifts so we moved to the Pipeline in about 110'. Caught several nice sized Mangroves(6-8#) and some Yellowtails around 3# for the box and several more Red Snapper to about 10# to be released. Also had 3 Nurse Sharks about 6-7' long released at the boat and got our asses handed to us by a few other mysteries of the deep. I didn't take many pics b/c all I have is my phone. Will post tomorrow....
  3. 200 HPDIs. Took the picture with a cel phone. Too broke now to buy a new digital camera.
  4. Sold the old boat. Bought a new boat. Fishing Sunday for first time since July.
  5. Mainly fishing the Chandeleur Island chain for Speckled Trout and Redfish. The few times I have been out there we have run into Jack Crevalle, Sharks, and a couple of Tarpon butit has been a long time since I have been out there. I believe some of the "mother ship" operations will allow you to bring your own boat and use the mother ship as a base for Rig Hopping the oil and gas rigs offshore and that will put you in striking distance for Snapper, Cobia, Kings and possibly Tuna, Wahoo and other blue water species depending on how far down south you are along the chain of islands BUT the main emphasis is wading or fishingout of skiffs for Trout and Reds.
  6. Finishing up the vacation in Destin tomorrow. Ran out to the Nipple Sunday and found dirty water and no weedlines so laid the smack down on the Snapper and got a Cobia. Got a limit of Snapper Monday 2 miles off of the beach all the fish were 18"-21". Another limit yesterday offshore with more dirty water
  7. Just got back in and sorry, no pics. We caught a 3 man limit of Reds, unfortunately, we had 4 guys on the boat. Every spot I wanted to fish had at least one boat on it and none of them looked to be doing any good. We were able to round out the box with some decnt Mangroves(15 or so), 3 nice Yellowtails, and 4 Lanes. The Reds were 6-8 pounds with one around 10 pounds. We also released a few that were just short and caught a butt load of Grouper(all undersized) and several Triggers.
  8. I have seen a couple of 25's but haven't really paid attention to anything smaller. I'll keep an eye out for you.
  9. It's looking good here for Monday(keeping fingers crossed) SUNDAY NORTH WINDS AROUND 5 KNOTS BECOMING WEST. SEAS 2 FEET. BAY AND INLAND WATERS SMOOTH. SUNDAY NIGHT WEST WINDS AROUND 5 KNOTS. SEAS LESS THAN 2 FEET. BAY AND INLAND WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. MONDAY NORTHEAST WINDS AROUND 5 KNOTS BECOMING WEST. SEAS LESS THAN 2 FEET. BAY AND INLAND WATERS SMOOTH. Maybe I'll take one of my new fishing partners with me to round out my crew?
  10. Who is fishing on Monday? I hope they're where I left them a few weeks ago.
  11. Ended up going with D&J Dry Storage at 11 Calhoun. $20/day or $120/week. Boat ramp right beside their lot, but I understand it can be a little tricky depending on the tide.
  12. Thanks, I'll try to find the name and give them a call tomorrow.
  13. Just trying to help the ladies. The women like my twisted steel and sex appeal. BOOMER, you keep Fat Larry and Mush Mouth Michael. I prefer my crew over them. Think anyone would want to take us Tuna fishing in Venice?
  14. I thought she needed a little captain in her
  15. Nice crew and a nicer hat. Someone gave me a Gators hat, but I mistakenly used it when I had to drop a deuce J/K Gary, there are a bunch of Mangroves here. They're just a little harder to catch than back home. For those in the area, the water was a nice clean blue where we were in 100' and there were some Blackfin that were jumping about 200 yards in front of the boat. Also saw a shrimper anchored up about 22 miles out, but he was several miles south of my course and our time was limited.
  16. Took my wife, one of her friends from work(Veronica) and her son(Jared), and one of my old friends(Jayme) for a quick Snapper trip along the Pipeline. I didn't figure the bite would be very good because of the full moon, but the weather was nice, schedules cooperated, and who am I to pass up having three beatiful women on the boat with me. Since we had a babysitter at our house at 0515, time was a factor so I decided to skip on trying to catch live bait. Headed the 30+ miles to our first stop of the day and first bait in the water produced a smaller, but keeper sized Mangrove. Jayme promptly followed that up with a Trigger that we decided to let go. My wife then landed the best Mangrove of the day and the action here died. After a beer/sandwhich/pee break, we relocated a few miles and were just covered up in more Triggers. I stopped chumming for a little bit and it seemed like they moved on so I took the opportunity to downsize our leaders from 30# fluor to 20# fluoro and it was on Mangroves and Yellowtails were coming into the boat on every drop. Then came a series of break offs and the ladies getting owned by something and that's when the inevitable happened- I GOT TO SEE THE LADIES RED SNAPPERS My wife was able to get the first one in the boat. I followed suit with one that hit a free line. The Jayme needed a little help with hers. We caught around 15 and they were all around this size. All released to live until June 1st! Not to be outdone, Jared was able to catch an undersized AJ that he got the assist from his mom on. And we were finally able to get back to the business of catching fish we could throw in the box. I cut us off at 25 because I hate to see any go to waste and I have to clean all of them and clean the boat. But still not a bad way to spend the day.
  17. still trying to figure your gender Big Gay Al?

  18. Yeah, I know but I still catch fish with 10 other boats around me I just go there to pick up an AJ or two and move on.
  19. Is it me, or does the crowd on the Cap Mel board seem to think that 10 miles is too far offshore to fish? Being cautious is a good thing, but being prepared and having a game plan is a great thing. Let me know if you need an extra and I may be in.
  20. I forgot, we native Gulfportians like to fish on 5 gallon buckets turned upside down. Me and Snapperhead beat up BOOMER and took some of his and now we have extra.
  21. Thanks, but it sounds a little farther away than I want. We're staying at Waterview Towers on Holiday Isle. The condos here are the way to go IMHO if you bring a boat to Destin. Private marina across the harbor from AJ's, private beach, and right on the pass.
  22. Tad bit out of my range I believe since I only have a 135 gallon tank and a 2 stroke, but let me know if you ever want to buddy boat out to around 80 miles Thoughts of fishing out there make me even more ready to upsize my ride.
  23. Does anyone know of a place near Joe's Bayou ramp that stores boat trailers? I used the place that is/was on Calhoun or Sibert about 1/2-1 mile from the ramp and can't recall the name- going towards the ramp it was on the right hand side. It's been a few years and can't remember the name and don't have the number. Here's a google map of it(334 Calhoun- but not sure address is right, but this is the place), but I can't find a number listed for it and can't make out the name on the sign. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=.....sa=N&tab=wl Unfortunately, the people going with me don't know how to drive the boat or the truck with trailer so I need to do it alone and want the storage yard to be as close to the ramp as possible. Thanks
  24. I "###### footed" around and waited until the last possible minute to try to get a crew to go after my Venice trip was cancelled due to weather. Just as well I guess since I was down for the count Saturday morning with allergies. Took the wife and my two boys(ages 3 and 21 months) in the boat to Fort Desoto today to let them play on the beach. Water inside of the pass was beautiful.
