Intrepid 400 cuddy

I have owned 20' boats running the Bays and rivers around New Jersey.

My last child is out at collage and I want to spend the next year of life on the water. This is the boat that I really liked and was wondering if I would have any problems taking it to the Bahama's or any other place I would like to go.

I don't want to have to get a captains license to pilot anything bigger if I don't have to.

any info on this would be appreciated..

Where would you be departing from to go to the Bahamas?

I read that somewhere in Fla people get together before the hurricane season and make the trip together.

I was going to get as much info on that and go with them.

I live in New Jersey I would have to get to Florida first....

From just about anywhere on the East Coast of Florida a trip to the upper Bahamas, (Bimini, Grand Bahama, Abaco etc) in a 40 Cuddy is no problem. In fact, you might be one of the bigger boats in the convoy.

With that under you,your exposure to the open sea is around 90 mins Ft laud to Bimini, a cakewalk ! I've been going since 76 and consider the trip safer than being on I-95 !
