1965/2008 Bertram 25 Custom Express Sportfish. This is an opportunity for the discriminating buyer to own a one-of-a-kind Custom Bertram 25 Express.

This boat was originally a hard-top when built in 1965, but the current owner spent 18 months transforming her into a Carolina-style pocket sport express yacht. Restoration began with a new transom, new deck supports and deck, new, integral composite forward/ cabin bulkheads and a custom composite Rybovich-style pod console featuring a 3-spoke stainless wheel (duplicate in the upper station). Beneath the deck are two powder-coated aluminum fuel tanks containing a total of 190 gallons.

All electrical, steering, engine control and fuel systems are brand new. The boat is powered by twin 160 hp Volvo D3 turbo diesels coupled to Volvo SX counter-rotating outdrives and are controlled by ZF Corps electronic Palm Beach style electronic controls with synchronizer with only 120 hrs of total time since splashed in September of 2008. Electronics include a Northstar 958 color plotter with a new Simrad 3.5ft open-array 4kw radar module, a Furuno 585 color fish finder with an Airmar M260 shoot-thru 1 kw transducer, a Standard Quantum vhf with RAM mic in upper station and Fusion i-pod/Serius/am/fm stereo with Bose 101 speakers. Lenco tabs complete the electronics package. The custom express tower, built by KentFab (one of Northeast¿s finest fab shops), has break-away pins making over-the road travel possible when you remove the top section. There is a complete ZF electronic control set in the upper station as well as a steering helm.

The steering system is power steering over hydraulic (SeaStar), making steering a breeze, 2 ½ turns lock to lock. The bow sports a new in 2010 Butler Marine Products pulpit with anchor roller for ease of anchor deployment and recovery.

A custom-made Stamoid/StrataGlass enclosure surrounds the lower helm/deck area, making for a nice dry ride. 6 swivel rod holders in addition to the 11 rod holders on the tower and new 18ft Single spreader Rupps tower mounted outriggers make this boat a fishing machine. Cruise performance is 26-28 kts at 11.5 to 12.5 gph with a top end of 37 kts. Painted in Awlgrip Fighting Lady Yellow, with several clear coats, this boat is a striking example and a modern take on a Classic Bertram.

When surveyed, she was considered and insured as a NEW BOAT with an estimated replacement value of $175,000. She is currently in Islamorada and ready for sea trials and a new owner.
