Boat Surveyor Needed

Recommended Posts

The buyer usually pays for the survey, not the seller, otherwise it could be construed as a conflict of interest. I'd expect it to cost about $250-$300 for that boat.

Here is a list of marine surveyors in that area http://www.marinesurvey.org/la.html

I found mine first on the BoatUS web site than found him again in a search. 20.00 per foot was the rate and it was my expense but I'm sure one could haggle the issue. It was very complete and the bank was very impressed with the report and how complete it was. Made the loan very easy.

I think I have my boat sold. The buyers bank wants a survey/appraisal. I cannot seem to find one anywhere on the internet. Does anybody know of one in the Baton Rouge area? What does something like that cost?

If the buyers bank wants a survey then the responsibility should be on them for an independent survey.

How's that? It is you who wants to borrow their money. You'll play by their rules or you can borrow it elsewhere.

Typically, the onus of the survey falls on the buyer, not the lender...
