SmartPlug Systems has revolutionized access to AC power. The company's 30 amp inlet and connector retrofit kit features a patented design that helps protect against the leading causes of shore power failure and fire: unstable connections and overheating.

Consumers of the retrofit kit can simply upgrade on the boatside, while keeping the conventional twisting plug on the dockside. Employing a unique sleeve configuration, SmartPlug is intuitive to use and can only be plugged in one way. Due to the nesting of the connector and inlet, aligning the pins and orienting the connector is easy, even in low light and challenging conditions.

Ensuring a stable electrical connection, SmartPlug features state-of-the-art stainless steel locking levers on both sides of the connector and a stainless steel inlet cover, which locks down onto the top and rear of the connector. Once the sleeve is aligned, the three straight pins slide directly into the connector with no twisting required. When fully secured, SmartPlug withstands a substantial amount of vertical force that is absorbed by the body's assembly, not the electrical pins.

With triple-seal weatherproof protection, its built-in thermostat automatically shuts off electrical current at 200˚F to prevent overheating. SmartPlug automatically resets at 120˚F.

The MSRP of SmartPlug Systems' 30 amp Inlet and Connector Retrofit Kit is $225. A 50 amp inlet and connector are currently in development.
