A Miami-Dade boat captain charged with manslaughter for pushing a drunk passenger off his vessel on July 4 is a wanted man after failing to appear for arraignment Friday.

Eulices Alvarez Barrios, 38, is charged in the killing of Domingo Manuel Vilalta, 22, a construction worker who had been partying with the man on his boat just south of the Broad Causeway in North Miami.

``He doesn't even have enough respect to face justice,'' said Vilalta's uncle, Mario Castellanos, 47, who had gathered with relatives inside the courtroom Friday.

Circuit Judge John Thornton issued an arrest warrant for Barrios, of North Miami, who had been free on bond awaiting trial.

According to Miami-Dade's homicide bureau, the men were among a group of young people partying on two boats on Independence Day.

arrios' 32-foot Stamas Express boat had pulled over in the Meloy Channel so that a woman could jump in the water to urinate. Vilalta, who was drunk, sat in the captain's chair and turned on the propellers -- jolting the boat, causing another passenger to fall in the water, briefly.

According to an arrest warrant, an enraged Barrios threw Vilalta into the water. Both boats cruised away before anyone realized Vilalta was not on either vessel.

His body -- killed by the blades of a boat propeller, police said -- was found two days later floating near Haulover Park Marina. Barrios was arrested in late October and was supposed to be formally charged in court on Friday.
