gelcoats

Recommended Posts

Thanks to everyone for the help on this topic. I am sure there are many boaters that have gelcoat questions. I have never worked on gelcoats, but this will be a first for me. I have painted automobiles in the past as a hobby and was curious about the wear of marine paint. I will try the buffing process first and will let you guys know how it turns out. I may post a few photos because my gelcoat is not in the best condition. Some before and after photos may help also.

I have never heard of aqua buff, but I will be purchasing the product because of the response that it has generated from this topic. I do know that the inside of the boat (angler brand) came from the factory with a flat finish. This is probably why is has turned chalky so fast. That leads me to my next question. Can the chalky finish be sealed?
