Depends. If you only operate during the day in non-Federally controlled waters (ICW), then the short answer is no. If the coasties stop you for a safety inspection, they might think otherwise.

I'd rather have it and not need it than................we'll, you know the rest. You never know when you had no intention of being on the water after dark but plans/situations change, sometimes outside your span of control.

That stuff should really be in with your safety gear no matter what. Like was said, you never know....................

Thanks, Guy's I already have some Flares but they are outdated... So I was wondering for just a local intra-coastal trip if they are required...

I'll go tomorrow and pick some up, because you are right I need them anyway...
