I don't know if you've seen the black metal dog silhouette devices in industrial parks and office complexes, but they do work. They are about the size of a collie and work great to keep Canada Geese permanently away. They are being used where I used to work very successfully. I'm sure you could make one from a 4x8' sheet of plywood.

I know there are several products out there to keep birds off the boat. I have been lucky enough so far not to have to deal with it but here is one I thought might do the job.

Thank you. Both are great ideas. I will be looking into both as a possible solution. The pair of geese have taken up residence close to my boat and like to perch on the gunwales leaving behind quite a mess. I'll let you know how this turns out. Thanks again.

Hire a swan- they can be vicious. Setting up a perimeter of monfoliment will generally keep birds off boats or docks. That may be a PIA but probably less so than the ugly cleanup.

believe it or not we hang a string of old cd's which flash in the sun to scare the birds

I think the CD's would be your best bet but you could also hang some netting over your invaded areas. You can get cheap cotton netting at party supply stores. Wash it before hanging to get the dyes out. This will provide a visual and physical anti-boarding barrier that does not interfere with ventilation.
