How do you..........?

Recommended Posts

Attempted to clean the internal filter on my 70 hp 2-stroke Yamaha this past weekend but could not get the cup to unscrew from the filter head. I did not want to force it and run the risk of breaking it. Is there a trick to getting the cup apart from the filter head? Also, how exactly do you clean the filter itself once it is out?

Thanks

I have a 90 hp yamaha and had a little trouble getting mine off. I basically muscled mine off and found the plastic to be quite strong. Cleaned it with some carb cleaner and its good to go. Not sure if the older filters are paper filters or not but pretty sure the newer ones are plastic. Hope that helps.
