In my early years my father owned a weekend "farm". It was 360 acres of woods and fields and ponds. We also had 20 horses. My horse was named Sam and he was a gentle giant. We were on a trail ride in a national forrest when Sam stepped over a fallen tree and hit it with his hoof. We stirred up a hornets nest and they attacked. Sam must of taken 5 or 6 hits while I took nothing. Sam never bucked much or reared he was a true friend. Sam could have hurt me on more than one occasion he never did. Sam died 40 years ago. I miss Sam.
