Bringing The Sand Bar Back Here?

Recommended Posts

In the coming months ReelBoating will slowly lose any resemblance to boating forums I've created in the past.

Unlike THT which has a format known to encourage rumours and vendor bashing I will be taking a totally different approach and working with the Vendors in helping test and improve their products.

THT might have a ton of visitors but comments from many in the industry are less than favorable.

Now, how are topics too limited? People can certainly comment good and bad here on RB as long as their claims are warranted.

I am thinking now perhaps a few off-topic forums (minus the bikini pix) might do well here. Still open to comments.

I don't think the sand bar is a reason to go to this site.

I would suggest more folders for boat related questions. For example you should have a tab/folder for questions about outboards and a tab for questions about fishing. THT offers a larger number of posts which is why I read it. With time and quality your activity should increase.

The upside of bringing it back here would be consolidating/increasing your traffic-the benefits of that are obvious, not the least of which being advertising revenue.

The downside (IMO) is that if you take away the adult content (language, nudity, etc.) you lose the sandbar.

I do think that the discussions here are too regimented to have many posts. Topics are too limited to have any type of dialogue.

I completely agree with both quotes... IMO I would like to have the sandbar in here and not have to go to other forum. Actually thats the reason I do not visit this sandbar, but I frequently visit the sandbar on THaT other site....call me lazy if you want... but what makes the sandbar what it is, it's in my opinion the same content that you propose to regulate if you bring it here, which would kill the very essence of the sandbar

Also, I think that Mr. Paul is right on the nail....

Too much too the Right and the forum gets boring, lets face it there's only soo many boating topics to discuss. After a while it gets repetitive.

Too much to the Left, and you have MAYHEM!!!!

I think that right now reelboating is toward the center but leaning heavily to the right....

IMO: Having areas one the rigth, and areas on the left, would bring the forum to the center and anybody can pick and choose which areas to visit. some kind of "to each their own" thing, and you do not exclude anybody.

I would not mind seeing it return here. I would say try to keep it fairly clean (bikinis okay). I am not a prude but t he fact is, I have to believe that most of us come here to talk about boats, fishing, etc.... If I want to look at porn, there are 1,000's of other sites I can go to. Now a good shot of a beautiful boat with a girl in a bikini, now I think that is an image we can all get behind. I'll keep coming here regardless of what you decide.

I'm not sure the RB pole has been in the ground long enough to begin leaning yet.

One thing for sure is RB will not be THT2. Once the software upgrade is complete you'll notice RB will be much more of a boating community rather than just a forum that runs by itself.

Thanks for ordering a shirt!

I would personally rather see it here, and make it completely invisible to non registered users. Perhaps an option in the control panel to enable seeing it. This would give the user complete control on what they do and don't want to see. Also, like others have said, the sandbar isn't the sand bar if it doesn't allow at least some nudity. I am all for no sexual content or spread eagle shots, but limited tastefull nudity keeps things fresh & appealing to the masses IMO.

Here is my take on how to condense the topics:

Sandbar pics section, with the wives/girlfriends post pinned at the top, with the on off function in the control panel, for registered users only.

Have a politics, open game area, anything other than personal attacks allowed.

Combine sports & dockside chater, as they for the most part go hand in hand

combine funny jokes & funny online videos, as the content is very similar, just a different delivery method for the two.

Rethinking this again.

A kinder, gentler Sand Bar may be returning to ReelBoating.

I have some potential opportunities for some custom bikini photo shoots, calendars etc and I'd rather they be associated with RB.

I'd rather not have any of my sites be associated with the "showing of the naughty bits" however bikinis are still a major part of the boating lifestyle! ;)
