Zip saw or plunge saw

I have an 18v Dewalt zip saw for cutting out boxes in drywall that I have used for a number of other things and was wondering if this might be appropriate to use to flush mount my vhf and stereo radios? Anyone try it and had any success in fiberglass? Thanks, Rick

I used a roto zip or dremmel.

I used my roto-zip and it worked great just take your time untill you get the feel for it. You will be amazed at how well this tool works around the boat for cut outs! Wear a dust mask cough-cough, fiberglass is an sob on bare skin and in your nose!

They work very well, a sabre bit is the ticket. As mentioned, take your time and get the feel for it so it doesn't "walk" away on you. Have a helper follow your cut with a shop vac for an almost dustless cut.

I guess I am "old school" as I still prefer a jig saw. I tried using a spiral saw one time, it tended to jump around due to the difference in density of the fiberglass.

I use water at the same time of cutting to keep fibers down
