Ramp Follies

Recommended Posts

Back in may we were coming back in around noon from fishing and usually that early in the season there is no problems. I drop my partner off and the ramp lot is packed with cars without trailers. It takes him awhile to get the truck and trailer out since its almost parked in we load the boat and drive up to the tie down area and its full of cars too. I pull over and block the entrance to the tie down area since that is the last place to pull over or turn around until you get to a major road. A park ranger comes down and starts bitching I am blocking a parking lot and I try to explain I wont be long but I have to tie the boat down before I get to the road. He tells me do that at the top of the ramp like everyone else. I lose my cool point to the sign that says no parking boat tie down area and huffs off and leaves. The park was hosting a large Puppy Palooza and ran out of parking. They didnt inform the marine officers and the regular park officers just took the lot.

i'm sure all you guys have had a problem or two launching your boat ,not as bad as what is pictured. i'm not afraid to admit that i had a problem one time and i laugh at it today thinking about it, i had a 19' cc with bunk trailers and i was going to launch the boat at a spot that i launch at all the time , when i got there it was low tide and i backed up and there was no way i was getting the boat in the water as the water was below the bunks.i tried to angle the trailer so the one tire would go off the concrete pad and maybe i could get the boat off i was with my nephew that was visiting from florida and i told him to hold the lines for the boat and i backed up and the weight of the boat pulled the trailer off the concrete pad and away the boat went :753_hammer_hitting_head: and my nephew forgot to hold on to the lines of the boat , the boat is drifting away , looking around there is no other boats around and then a boat comes around the bend and i flagged him down and ask him to take me over to my boat which was 100 yards floating away from the dock. talk about being embarassed i have launched my boat there 100x and i knew i could only do this at high or mid tide but i never checked the tides before i left the house.
