Fishing SC Coast--Fripp Island Area

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about a possible trip over to the Fripp Island, SC area with the boat. I've been to several places in the area on beach vacations (Hilton Head, Fripp, Edisto) over the years, and once fished out and around the St Helena Sound (20+ years ago) but other than that don't know much about it. The boat is a 23' Seacat w/ twin 150s.

The whole area (from Edisto down to Hilton Head) is intriguing on Google Earth as there are a lot more undeveloped areas on and around those barrier islands than I realized.

Anybody know the area?

All (serious & semi-serious) fishing or general excursion tips welcome.

PS: Another thought was running up to Savannah or Charleston on the water and trying to park for a little restaurant/bar tour. Anybody done that?

The Kings are in close and trout, bass, flounder inside. Some bottom fishing deep with spades at close reefs. I've run from Chas. to Sav. and back and most places in between. The waterway is a straight shot. The Beaufort city dock is small. Luthers has always been OK for the $$$. Saltus Grill is $$$$ and very good last year anyway. Chas. eats on Shem Creek, Calif. Dreaming across from Chas. City, Crab House on Wappoo Cut before the Harbor. Wappoo Cut landing to Beaufort is ~ 55 miles waterway.
